sick puppy Please help me! My poor 12 week old yorkie is sick. I week ago I took him into the vet to get a shot and heartworm medicine. Later that night he threw up 3 times and hasn't been the same since. He normally runs around barking and playing and now just sleeps or sits there. He hasn't barked at all which seems very strange. He is eating and drinking. Yesterday I took him back to the vet and she said he must still be sore from the shot. She gave me some meds and said it should help. Today he is still not himself, what could be wrong?

Same thing happened here. Try seeing what is going to happen tomorrow. Mine was throwing up, peeing all over the place, had diarrhea and very lethargic. But as long as food and fluids are taken in you have nothing to worry about.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Poor baby !! The good thing is that he's eating and drinking and you did go to the vet....but at 12 weeks you have to watch him very carefully and if he starts getting dehydrated or sicker - go to the vet fast....It COULD be a reaction from the shots or this could be something else.... I hope he feels better and soon ! Good luck |

Thanks for everyone's advice. Wrigley is still about the same as yesterday. He's eating and drinking but that's about it. I'm not sure if I should give the medicine more time to work or take him back to the vet this weekend.

If you feel it will calm you down, you should take him to the vet. Today we went to the vet because Spookie has a cough for the past couple of weeks. They wanted us to take an X-Ray to see if she had pneumonia. It was very unlikely for her to have that and I was not too fond of spending $120 bucks for something I do not see as necessary. But the "calm effect" for my girlfriend really outweighed the money spent.
