| Itchy skin.... she rips off her hair  Hi all, My 5 year old Lolita started developing some kind of itchy skin... to the point where she would rip her hair off. It's terrible, she's completely bold in some spots of her body. We did have a flea issue that we were able to control... I'm not sure if it has anything to do with her itchy skin. I know some doggies can be allergic to flea saliva. Is there anything I can put on her coat/skin that will alleviate her itch? Any advise is appreciated. thanks in advance, Marcelo |

| Sounds like allergies and you need to get her to the vet and treat the allergies. It’s miserable to be that itchy.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Her skin has to be evaluated properly by a vet - a skin scraping looked under a microscope and also a culture grown out for 10 days. If a regular vet has been unsuccessful, then you should see a Vet Derm ASAP! Read this thread: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/die...tart-here.html

| Good luck. I hope you figure it all out. There is a new medicine out that does not have side effects. Cytopoint....if your pup continues to have issues, you might want to speak with her vet about it.

YT 2000 Club Member | Itchy My friends Yorkie was itching so bad the vet put her on royal can in ultamino. That cleared her up. She was alergic to poultry. So she ate merrick beef fritata. Have to watch for food allergies. Another friends dog is allergic to corn. I hope you can get your dog to stop itching. |

| Mine too My little gal has very itchy skin too. I took her to the vet who said she had dry skin. We have tried a few things, but this weekend she became worse. So I came here to browse the forums. I suppose it must be an allergic reaction. I'm going back to the vet on Wednesday morning and will post results here if they're conclusive. It's horrible seeing her like this. |

| Most allergies are environmental...only around 5% are from food.
