| Gerd Hi. Sounds like your baby will feel better very soon as you are feeding him that easy to digest diet. I will PM you the details of the chewable Pepcid( Famatodine) . I got them as I wanted to be able to change the dose and also taper it off he no longer needed the meds. The pharmacy calls your vet for a prescription and will only supply with vet's orders. I keep the meds in the fridge and just pull out a few as needed to warm up to room temperature. They are about 1/2 inch diameter and very easy to cut. I order 5 mg tabs and cut them into halves or quarters as needed. Hope your boy gets well soon and that he no longer has the acidy stomach problem |

| Thanks Dottie, got your message. I think I've decided to give him a break on food for a bit. I've been giving him small meals but he seems to be feeling more lethargic and uncomfortable. Also, I haven't seen him drink any water at all today. Will likely be taking him back to the vet tomorrow to see what is going on. Fingers crossed he wakes up feeling better though my stomach is in knots and I can't even eat! I don't know how people have human children, I can hardly handle the stress of a four legged baby lol I appreciate the well wishes and the info about the pills. If acid reflux is indeed the culprit here, I will certainly invest in those. |

| I am so sorry your boy is not feeling so good and perhaps laying off food for a while might be a good thing. But he should drink, even if you have to syringe some liquid into his mouth. Do you have any lo salt chicken broth that he might be tempted to drink? It could be the meds he took last night still upsetting him, or the kitty poop? Is it possible he ate something that could have caused a GI obstruction? Hoping that he will wake up feeling better tomorrow. I hear you about feeling so bad when our babies are sick, if only they could talk and let us know what is bothering them?? As it is we dream up all kinds of reasons that are mostly wrong, but it is so stressful when they get symptoms and we don't know what to do to help them. Praying he will feel good again tomorrow and the vet visit will not be needed. Hugs. Dot. |

The kitty poop incident was last thursday night, almost a week ago... the vet did say she thinks that's just causing him to have a really upset stomach. Seems odd though being a week later, but she's the pro. I'm going to give him some chicken broth as soon as it cools down in the fridge :-D hoping he drinks it. He wasn't a huge fan of my rice/pumpkin/chicken mash I made earlier. He ate some but I could tell he thought I was feeding him funny food. He gave me a few "What is this" looks before eating any of it lol Fingers crossed so hard he's better tomorrow as we are supposed to board a plane on Monday night! happy positive thoughts! | |

| Buddybear is 7# and the vet said to use the 10 mg Pepcid, cut them down and give twice a day as needed. It's easy to get a pill down if you put it into the side of the back of the mouth and gently hold their nose and chin together and they will swallow. |

| @Buddy, yeah the pills have been going down easily from what I can tell. update: - as of last night he "seems" to be getting better. We spent a good hour+ playing fetch. He was drinking water, and then passed out upside down snoring. - This morning he woke up drank water, ate a bit of his wet food. (Tried to give him a smidge of pumpkin mixed in there but he WILL NOT eat it. He won't eat pumpkin, or chicken broth to entice him. He only wants his Blue Mountain wet food and chicken and rice. Guess he doesn't have a sweet tooth lol ). He does seem a tad bit lethargic but not as bad as yesterday walking around with his tail between his legs - The "air licking" seems to have improved some, but he's now licking his feet, and his dog bed quite a bit instead. Also his breath seems to be VERY foul. I can smell it from a couple of feet away. I've read that this can be due to a gastric illness? perhaps GERD? - Also his stool is firming up which is really positive. He had liquid runs earlier this week. Hoping that he just had a tummy illness (cat poop probably) and is slowly recovering. He's eating and drinking so I'm hopeful. I'll won't feel better until this dang licking stops though. Finally I thought I would say that I am SO SO Grateful for this forum. None of my friends understand the anxiety and stress that goes on when your Yorkie is sick. I've hardly eaten for two days! Many thanks |

| Hello. Thanks for the update. It looks like he is feeling much better now and that whatever ailed him is going away. The little rascal not liking the pumpkin or chicken broth!!! Still, if he is drinking ok and eating his regular food, that is fine. The licking could indicate his tummy is still not feeling 100% and he may have some nausea? Has the vet suggested an anti nausea drug, such as Cerenia? It did wonders for my boy when his tummy was upset. Hoping the improvement continues and that he gets back to normal soon. Then you can feel better too without all the stress of his health issues. Please keep in touch and let us know how he is doing |

| Sick dog? Oh no! I am so sorry that your boy is not eating and is feeling bad again. Have you tried giving him a small dose of Pepcid in a treat or something he likes? Could it be the Gerd again? You said all tests were ok and he did feel better for a day or two, so hopefully it is nothing urgent. Has he had any vomiting or diarrhea? Perhaps you could call the vets and see what they say? Hope he did not get into anything like the cat poop again? Pancreatitis, among other things, can have his symptoms but usually with Vomiting and or Diarrhea. Does he have abdominal pain? A simple Snap cPL test can be done in a vet office to check out for Pancreatitis. Keep an eye on him and if any more symptoms occur then certainly a vet visit would be wise. Please keep in touch and I pray he is ok soon. |

| Oh NO! I was about to post about how happy I was that he was all better! Hoping that this is only a VERY temporary setback and that he will be better soon.
