| Worried about my Pregnant Yorkie! I hope someone can ease my mind. I'm not a breeder, but a Yorkie Lover. My Yorkie is very pregnant. She's had two litters in the past (4 pups each) with no problem. My concern is....she is Much larger this pregnancy, Huge! She couldn't get herself back up the stairs this evening. When she rolled onto her back, she couldn't turn herself back over. I don't know if this means she's having a big litter, big puppies or what. I plan to take her to the vet tomorrow, but now I'm worried that she'll go in labor tonight and that something will go wrong. I'm not sure what to look for if she starts having problems. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should watch out for???? |

| Hi and good luck with the whelping. I cannot really help because I am not a breeder but you might want to PM admin and ask him to move this to the Breeder section or you could just re do it there. You may get more answers from the breeders who tend to hang out there. If it helps I just read a thread about how to wait after "hard" labor starts before taking the dam to the vet and the consensus was 45 minutes because it usually takes a half an hour to get to the vets after you call him especially if it is after hours and the vet has to get there an turn everything on etc. Good luck. |

| How many days is she? Have you been taking her temp daily? If you have this information handy, the breeders will be able to help you more readily. Is she beginning to nest?

| I feel bad that I can't even answer those questions. The last two litters I could've. My house has been topsy turvy the past three months due to my brothers death and adding his two kids to my household. I just can't remember the date she bred. But she's definitely near her time. The past 3 or 4 days, it seems like her belly has noticably grown fast. I know she's not in active labor yet because she's not straining or pushing. She has seemed extra tired today and laying around a lot & having a hard time getting comfortable. Her appetite is good still. It's midnight here now, so I'm just hoping she'll hold off til 8 a.m. when the Vet here opens. I'll be sure to post when I know more. Thanks! |

| Update: Just brought her back home from the vet. She has at least 6 puppies, possibly a 7th. Her temp is 101 and I'm to keep check to see it drop under 100, then she should have them soon. Besides being Big and uncomfortable, she's healthy. |

| WOW!!! That sure is a LOT of puppies!!! Any dark discharge is a sign to get her straight to the vet! PLEASE let us know how everything goes. I also want to add that I am so sorry to hear of the tragedy in your life. God bless you for taking in your brother's children. I pray that they will bring you much happiness. |

| Also, since your house is topsy turvy, remember to put your girl in a nice quiet dimly lit room where she will be stress free. Only you should check on her....do not have the children or others do it. I know she can't move much, but make sure she does ABSOLUTELY no jumping. |

| First of all I would just like to say how sorry I am for the loss of your brother. Second, you are a wonderful person for taking two children. As a mother of three boys, I comend you for that. Thats wonderful to hear that she is healthy other than just having lots of babies. I will say a prayer that she and ALL her babies arrive safe and healthy. God Bless you!!

| Thanks for all of your support! I will certainly let you know how it all goes. She has her comfy whelping area in my bedroom, away from all the kids (4 kids) and 2 other Yorkies. I'm not too worried about her jumping on/off things. She hasn't even attempted to get on my bed lately(where she usually sleeps). I take her out the side door now, that has no steps to deal with, when she needs to potty. And when she's stuck lieing on her back, I roll her back over...LOL |
