| Possible liver shunt need answers before PTS HELP, not a yorkie but a brussels griffon mix rescued from shelter statrted off with leg tremor in aweeks time progressed to three limbs and now has seizures. Has had 5 in 1 hr. Vet suspects congenital neurological disorder or possible distemper. I asked about liver shunt but all bloodwork came back normal. He is very playful and eats well, no head pressing orwalking along walls. Our rescue has no money for am MRI so coordinator is thinking we will have to put him down if we are unable to control seizures. Any thoughts? |

| If there is a neuro issue, then distemper treatment has to start. Otherwise, pup needs a neurologist. I'm sorry. Just no way around this. Even drugging with seizure meds..it's important to know what we are drugging for. Are there any BG specific rescues that would take the pup?

| I don't know where you are located or what rescue you are involved with; but perhaps you might recommend that your rescue reach out to other rescues that will raise the funds needed for severe cases.

| Normally we would have but he went down hill before my eyes. He had minimal issues one day by the next he developed a few more symptoms and was put on meds by day three if even that long he started having seizures several and hour. He had emergancy seizure meds that worked for less then a few hours and he started again. He was lossing motor control so quickly. I am heartbroken as he was a very special dog. I feel like someone punched me in the stomach, my heart is aching I just can't stop crying. |

| Thank you! I have had a lot of animals in my life but as you know there are those very special few that worm their way into your very soul. This little guy became my reason for existence. He made me feel alive and I loved evry moment I was able to spend with him. He touched evryone he came into contact with. People just had to pet him and love on him. He loved life and everything about it. For such a short time I was able to see life through his eyes and was truely happy. Now I feel such loss. It hurts so bad. We had such a strong connection. I hope to find that connection again it really was some kind of wonderful! Rest in peace my little Braxie Boy Boo!! You will be dearly missed, You are truely loved!!! |

| I'm so sorry to hear for your loss. My Porscha who is 10 months had a few seizures when she was only 8-10 wks and it was the scariest thing I've seen. We did the bile acid testing which came back negative for liver shunts. MRI showed nothing as well. Vet said we can controlled the seizures with steroids assuming she was epileptic. I didn't want to go that route if I didin't have to and luckily the seizures stopped. We assumed it was because she was extremely young and very tiny and the medications she was on along with vaccines she was given were too much for her. I pray she never has another again!
