| Update on Hip Displasia/FHO Surgery A few months ago I posted about my Mylee having hip displasia. My vet wanted to play the wait and see route and give it more time. Well, in the last couple of weeks she really started going down hill fast, so we got her in for her FHO surgery. It is the same surgery for a dog with legg perthes. She was diagnosed at spay around 6 months old. She had a follow up x-ray at 8 months, another one week ago, and her FHO surgery last Thursday at 11 months. I have heard hip displasia mentioned here, but not seen any specific posts so I thought I would share our experience since it is more commonly a large breed disease so this really took us by surprise. Vet said her surgery went "fairly well." She seems to be doing well and tolerating her situation and pain. Then again, this poor girl has known pain most of her short life. I hope we have the same positive results as I read so often with those that have legg perthes and this surgery. I was taken back at how big the surgical scar actually ended up being.

| Wishing little Mylee a speedy recovery. She will be good as new before you know it! These little ones do remarkably well with this procedure. It make take her some time to use it, but I am sure she will! Keep us posted on her progress, please.

| Mylee is so darling, but looks so pitiful in her picture. I think you did good getting her the surgery, no dog so young should have to be in pain all the time. As for the scar, just tell her that when her hair grows back, no one will be able to see it. I hope she is up and perky in no time.

| My Widget went thru this and I felt so bad for him. He has done well and unless you knew which hip you could not tell he had had surgery. Hope your baby is running again soon. |
