| bloody stools? vet trip? Two days ago, my baby got into another dogs food (innova) and she eats Merrick. She ate a good amount, probably twice her ration before i caught her. She had a bloated tummy all night and was very thirsty and restless. Her first few poops were ok and normal yesterday, but a day later-today, she's had runny diarrhea 3 to 4 times, and i've noticed a little blood. I gave her some pure pumpkin tonight, but do i need to get her to the vet? I know exactly what caused the diarrhea so its not a mystery illness they need to figure out, but i've never seen blood in the stools before. Should i give it time for the pumpkin to work? Help!! Thank you! |

| If your baby is acting normal aside from the blood in stool just keep an eye on the stools. It could be stress diarrhea and should clear up when the diarrhea clears up. Other wise a trip to the vet would be in order if your baby is not acting rite. |

| They can dehydrate so quickly from diarrhea. If she is still having a problem, I'd take her in.

| Bright fresh blood is just a sign of a tummy upset. Dark tarry stools are a sign of bleeding internally and is much more serious. Is she still having diarrhea? If so, she needs to be seen to check for dehydration which is very serious in a small dog. |

| Bloody diarhea can be the sign of GHE.........Toby just had a serious case of it and we nearly lost him to it as it is a serious but cureable disease. TAKE your fluff to the vet!!!!

| Pip went thru that when she was six months old, and it was my fault. I feed her some people food and the seasoning on it was most likely what did it. Believe me, there was absolutely no more so called 'treats' of human food after that! It was totally my fault! The worst of it hit her during the night, I was up and down with her, too. By morning, she pooping bright red blood, and vomiting. Got her to the vet, she told me another 2 hours or so, she'd have been beyond saving. They put her on IV, and kept her for 4 1/2 days. I hope your baby is fine now. |
