| Kennel Cough I took Piper 5 years old, and Suiki 7 years old to the vet, because they were both coughing and sneezing. The vet said it was kennel cough? How can they catch this when I haven't had either of them in, or near a kennel? There is a little dog that comes up to our gate sometimes. Do you think they could have caught it from him? I'm just totally confused on how they could have caught it. I gave them their first dose of medicine, and it already has started to work.

| Laci had Kennel cough , the vet said it was most likely from her breeder however it is airborne and she could have caught it at the groomer, vet, outside, dog park etc... since it is airborne they could have caught it anywhere

| it is airborne and if they sniff or touch noses with the other dog thru the gate, this probably where they got it. could the new dog you brought in recently have had it? it takes a long time to get over kennel cough. hope they are better soon. |

| They had it before the new dog came home, and now he has it too, so the vet is treating all three of them. I never knew it was airborne. Thanks for the information.

| Pet Smart is the perfect place to come in contact with it. How long did Laci have it for? I'm really having a lot of difficulty with my Rambo during the night. |

| I didn't realize that it was that contagious! You're poor babies!! Hope they recover soon. We gave Chase Bordatella last November before he went to puppy class but I think it only lasts for six months. I think I remember reading that it wasn't a good idea to keep repeating Bordetella unless you plan to board him which we don't. Now we are concerned because he meets new dogs and kisses them and we don't want him to get a cough. What do you all suggest? Thanks. |

| What meds? Rambo has terrible kennel cough and I'm bringing him to the vets Saturday. Are the meds your giving maddie helping? And do you have a problem giving them to her? [/QUOTE]

| I don't let my walk in any store , I put them both in a cart and drive them around , this way the dogs healthy or not will not b near my furbabies, I'm sorry not all dogs r sick , but should I take a chance with my. And yes after a walk or play time I wipe their paws, they know as soon as they walk in the house they stop and get wipe than a treat. Works for me, I can't see my furbabies sick It kill me to see them sad. I would do the same for my children when they were small, no shoes pass the inside door, and I would wipe or wash their hands sometime face. bark@ulater! manina, miley, max |

| Try Chlortripolon in 4mg tablets. Half in the am and the other half in the pm. My vet prescribed it for Rambo. You get it at the pharmacy. Since I gave Rambo half a tablet he hasn't been sneezing or having hiccup like spasms. Hope this helps Piper. The vet thinks its his sinuses, so the antihistamine therapy helps.
