| Retarded yorkie? Hey, greetings to everyone... When one of my yorkies was a 15 days old puppy, he fell from a really really high height (about 2 meters)... I know... is a miracle he is alive, there was a hole near the stairs really far from him, but one of the adults dogs brought it there, God knows why... He recovered, but ofc it was painful, was even amazing that he didnt break anything, any bone and aparently all his body is ok said the veterinarian. Thing is he is now 6 months, and has problem of obedience, which i guess can be normal, dosnt pay attention for long, but he can hear when is called and come. What is weird is that he jumps, dosnt walk much, jumps really really high, like a bunny walking, and hits with everything, tables, walls, all... trying to get him to learn how to go up the stairs, he falls back everytime, i dont know if is a trauma or is that he has some kind of coordination problems, or mental problems?? well he also have a little hole in his skull which vet said is normal and will close with time. im scared that since he walks jumping so high (he can jump even 2 and 3 times his height) he can get injuried, and if is posible that a dog can be retarded or if is just coordination problems how can it be fixed. Thanks in advance for your answers! |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | this does sound odd and quite possibly came from his accident as a puppy. Can you take a video of him "walking" so we all can see? You are right to be concerned. The hole in his skull is like a babies soft spot and damage can occur if he hits this spot hard enough.

| He sounds neurologic. You need to get him to a neurologist for a definitive diagnosis.
