Help! Lucas keeps hacking/hiccuping?? Hi everyone. I am a bit unsure of what to do. Lucas has been making a weird sound in his throat for the past half an hour. It sounds almost as if he is like coughing or hiccuping.. I'm not really sure, At first I thought he was choking, but he is drinking water and otherwise acting normal. Its kinda late here, And I don't know whether I should take him to an emergency vet or just wait it out. He will make it for several minutes and then lay down and stop for a bit but then it starts up again? Any Ideas or suggestions? thanks for the help everyone.

i agree.. could be kennel cough- which i discribe as they are trying to hack something up but nothing comes up. I'd bring him to the vet and see what they say.

Thanks everyone for your replies. He will be six months on sunday, and he seems to have stopped the hacking for right now, but it was kind of on going last night. How would he have gotten Kennel cough, he's usually indoors most of the time? I think I will take schedule an appointment with the vet just in case though. thanks guys/
