| any ideas? I need some advise. Cody has a severe bladder infection. He cries everytime he tries to pee. I know he needs to go potty but it hurts too much. What can I do to ease his pain? He's eating, not drinking much and barking like he usually does. It's ripping my heart out hearing and watching him. He's on amox and the dr doesn't want him on pain meds because they will bother his bladder. I just want him to be better!!!!!! Will a warm bath help.....anything please!

| When did your vet start him on Amoxycillin? You should see an improvement in 48 hours. If not, he may need a different antibiotic. Clavamox, not amoxycillin is normally given for uti's. It's amoxycillin with clavulanate and is more effective on different types of bacteria than plain amoxycillin. Your vet might need to do a sterile culture if it doesn't clear up. That will tell him exactly what bacteria is causing the infection so he will know which antibiotics to prescribe. Poor Cody. I'd call your vet first thing in the morning and let him know that Cody is not improving. |

| A warm bath helps the cramping of the bladder and relaxes the muscles, if you think he would be able to relax in the bath. Is he drinking enough liquids to pee? Usually with a bladder infection the urge to pee is so strong that it completely empties the bladder. Try offering a liquid that he is fond of to get more in him. Sometimes a warm pad or towel held on the bladder will relax the spasms too. So sorry for your little guy. Good luck.
