Donating YT 30K Club Member | Help. Roxie hurt her leg I just got back from the gym 30 minutes ago, and Roxie was limping really bad and wouldn't put her rear leg down. Now she is bearing weight on it when she stands and walks a little bit normally but if she runs she is keeping that leg up. I hate to run her to the er vet if she just strained it, but I don't want to wait if it is serious. If it was broken would she be putting any weight on it at all? Would it hurt to wait until tomorrow so I can get her in to my regular vet if she is still limping? I just gte so worried about my babies when they are hurt or sick. Thanks PS My dtr just told me it happened when she was going down the ramp she tripped and fell off the ramp about 1 foot of the floor.

| I am so sorry to hear about that cutie baby I once had a similar situation and of course it was the weekend. My hubby did some er on my doggie and he wrapped the leg up and added a piece of cardboard. Maybe you want to do that and keep it from adding more pressure to it. Then I'll wait until the morning if you can manage to protect that leg for the meantime and also dont let her run around as much and make sure she gets rest. I am sending you prayers and hoping it's not broken. Hugs~!

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | Confine her so she can rest it. She probably sprained it so that is all the vet will tell you to do. If it were broken she definitely wouldn't walk on it. You can see your regular vet bright and early tomorrow.

| I'm guessing she has a luxating patella which isn't an emergency, but needs to be checked by your vet asap. He will probably put her on an anti-inflammatory to see if he can calm things down. Here is some information: Luxating Patella: A Knee Problem in Dogs |

| Patti - you need to sit those little girls down and have a serious conversation with them!!! Let them know that mommy has simply had ENOUGH drama, sickness and injury and it has got to stop now!!!!! Seriously, I hope Roxie is okay. Please let us know the outcome. Hugs!!!!!

I just got back and I confined her to a crate while I was gone and she came out walking almost normal, now she is running and not favoring it. She doesn't like me to touch it but I'm pretty certain she sprained or twisted it. I an going to watch her closely and keep her calm as I can and see how she is in the morning. I hope it's not LP, my dtr said she saw her trip and fall so I am guessing she injured it. Thanks so much

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Thanks everyone. Roxie is running like normal today so I think she just landed wrong but I will have her vet check it when we go next.
