Default I am hoping this is nothing... but

I was just picking Sunshine and felt something on her chest. So when I looked, I thought it might be something on or swelling of her nipples.. but it wasn't. It was a BIG lump, below her sternum right between her nips. When I say big, I mean BIG to her.. she is just 5 lbs.... I would say the lump is about the size of the pad of my index finger. I called the vet right away and they will see her in the morning... but wanted to see if anyone has any ideas.
Thanks
Sonya

I can't remember how old she is right now, but I know that some older yorkies have bumps now and then that have to be removed. If it's what I'm thinking about, it's nothing serious, but they will remove them at her next dental.

I really hope it's that and nothing serious. We'll be sending good thoughts your way.

She just turned 4. I thought it might be a cyst, but it is hard (feels like a smooth marble in there) and doesn't move around like a cyst does. I think I am starting to stress here.

Thanks Patty. I thought a bite at first too, but don't see any kind of mark on her.. It's not red or feverish

Don't freak out. Try to be calm ... no good can come tonight from worrying this much.

Mogli had 1 little cyst that grew as he got older, but never enough for the dr to do anything about. Wicket however used to get them a lot and they would remove them now and then.

It could be a bug bite, reaction to pollen, etc. Don't get too worked up, you need to be strong for your baby ... sending good vibes

A year or so ago my Mickey had a lump on his chest... I took him immediately to the vet.... it was a clogged follicle (better known as a PIMPLE ). All the vet did was put a pin in it and squeeze it (pretty gross actually)... and gave him antibiotics.

Hope all turns out well for Sunshine.

perhaps its a lipoma -- Bubba & Roxy both have recently developed them - strange thing - they both have them in the same spot - my vet's response - they're twins

Lipomas in Dogs: Benign Fatty Growths

Praying it is nothing serious for Sunshine

I'll be prayingthat its nothing serious.

From the description it sounds like what my Bichon would occasionally get. Ican't remember what they are called (some type of cyst I think), whatever it was, we would take her in and the vet would just squeeze them til they popped. It was pretty gross.

I can't remember what they were called. If I think of it, I'll let you kow. Here's hoping for great news today.
