| Question re: new mom Lilly gave birth to 4 healthy pupies on Sunday. She finally went outside Monday afternoon to go to the bathroom for the first time. We noticed she was limping, and there was also some discharge when she urinated that looked like a string of placenta. Should we be concerned about either? Thanks. |

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | I would have her checked by a vet just in case. You never know what can go wrong giving birth. Better to be safe than sorry. Congratulations on your new fur babies

| Sometimes it take several days for all the placenta and ofter birth to be expelled. Did you take her to the vet for a clean out shot. Some breeders will do that especially if they did not see all the placentas pass. The most important thing is to monitor her temperature. If her temperature goes over 103 then you need to get her to the vet asap. I am not sure about the limping unless she was just stiff from laying with her babies. Please make sure you are feeding her 3 or 4 good meals a day, the last meal should be around 10 p.m. Also, make sure she is getting a calcium supplement. Good luck with momma and babies. |
