| We Almost Lost Gracie this Weekend Hi Everyone, Sorry this is going to be long.... So on Saturday, we woke up and the girls were playful having a great time. Then at 10:00 a.m. - Gracie had diarrhea in the house and I just cleaned it up thinking she must have eaten something bad. She was still playing and eating. So then my 2:00 p.m. she had it again - but she was still being her healthy little self and eating and playing. So things calmed down until around 8:00 p.m. as she started to vomit. She was doing this every 10 minutes for an hour. So I called my vet and he informed me to rush her to the emergency hospital right away and that she would see me in the morning to check her over again. So I went to the emergency hospital and they ran all kind of tests and they diagnosed her with Giardia, dehydration and mid-hypoglycemia. They wanted to hospitalize her, but the hospital was so far away - I could not do that, plus she was going to see her normal vet in 8 hours that is only 10 minutes from my house. Needless to say - it was a long night, I did not sleep a wink and luckily she slept, but no vomiting. By the time I took her to the vet on Sunday morning, she had dropped a 1lb - so she dropped a 1/3 of her body weight over night. They checked her over and gave her a bunch of medicine and sent me home with her. I had to feed her by a syringe all day yesterday and finally at 2:00 p.m., her fever broke and she was holding all food down. Although, she was just a limp little dog yesterday and could not get up. As of today - she has turned the corner - she is up and a little playful, but still week as she lost so much weight over a 2 day period. I am grateful that I did not have to hospitalize her, but I think we have a good five days of recovering in front of us. She is at least eating on her own today. I just had to vent somewhere as this has been a horrible couple of days as I thought we were going to lose her. She is only 5 months old and I could not imagine her not in our lives.

| OMG, I am so glad to hear that she is doing a bit better. I hope she makes a very speedy recovery. We will be praying for her. Bella is 5 months too and would be lost without her sweet furface!

| I'm sorry she got sick. Did they say what they thought caused it? I always wondered that, because I've heard of a few peoples dogs getting it. I pray she will continue to get better and fatten up.

| Hi - they are not sure how she got the parasite - she could have had it for a while and it was just a reaction. I am so happy she is better today too. It made me overjoyed to see her get up and get a little excited - plus her sister Lillie missed playing with her. Thanks to all of you for your great comments - I will keep you updated on how she progresses.

| Bella has never had a sick day! Oh my you must have been so worried! I can't imagine going thru that. I am glad she is better and she didnt have to be hospitalized. They are so sick! I worry about Bella eating lizards and check her stool everytime we go to the vet ...even though he thinks i am a little over board with it! |

| Hi Everyone, I just wanted to give you an update on little Gracie. She has done a complete 180 since the weekend and is getting back to her old self. We had a couple of days where she was not taking the antibiotics well, but we figured that out quickly and hid it in chicken. I am so glad she is feeling better and she is gaining the weight back that she lost. Thanks to everyone for their kind thoughts.
