| Who should breed? Please read the following descriptions then vote on the breeding practices you support. (You can vote on more than one) http://www.shilohshepherds.com/puppy...erMatrixv4.htm Last edited by shelbysmom; 03-23-2006 at 04:03 PM. |

| Those descriptions do not include..Common sense, sanity, a hard work ethic, hands on, knowledge and some intelligence etc....so I can't answer...I tell you also..it doesn't say if the breeder is easy to talk with, friendly, and or honest...they apply also!! As well as all the things in the link...

| I voted based on this chart alone. I know alot of people use these terms, but don't necessarily describe them the same way. |

I agree, those qualities are important when one is trying to find a breeder but they are qualities that a lot of breeders in different categories might possess. Would that be enough? Would you deal with a BYB that had those qualities? I posted this poll because of the l o n g thread of comments about breeding. I wondered if we were all on the same page regarding who should breed, we just called different breeders by different names. (which is why I posted a particular chart) All of the info I read describes BYB the same. Lack of knowledge (or concern) about the breed standard, and lack of knowledge of the the lines they are mixing. Once someone researches and takes steps to control quality breeding they fall out of that category and move on to being closer to a Hobby Breeder. Thanks to those of you that took part in the poll. | |

| Let me say this......How can they put experience reputable breeders on there? My question would be how did they become experienced? You don't just wake up one day and say hey I am experienced or reputable......You get this from learning, trials and errors, lots of questions and so on......So tell me how do you automatically become reputable and experienced with out learning.... Does this make sence to anyone other than me. So many times people say I want an expereinced, reputable breeder......were they born into it? or how did they become experienced? |

| All I was saying is it is not a fair question or even fair titles on what they have on some points. But I voted anyways according to what they have listed. Didn't mean to get upset it just makes me think on the topic of expereinced and reputable sometimes. Everyone wants to be just that but it does take time and knowledge and like I said you just don't wake up and say your expereinced or reputable. |
