Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Feeding schedule poll I read something that said dogs she be fed at the same two times each day, then the bowl should be removed. But we lead such an odd lifestyle, we're seldom home at the same two times every day. So we keep a full bowl of food out all the time. So far, it's worked with Eddie. He doesn't overeat. I was just wondering if we're the only ones. Here's a poll. (For you insomniacs out there, you might have to wait a second until the poll shows up )

| Teddy free feeds through out the day. We have the same sort of life style that feeding at a certain time would never work out for us either.

| Toby's got food out all the time. Usually he'll wait til I'm home so I can hand-feed him though. My schedule is pretty crazy, and I'm not always around at the same time. I always take food with me when he goes with me. He doesn't overeat. My first baby was free-fed for 17 years, and never had any weight problems. |

I Love Thor Donating Member | I didn't vote because I sometimes feed Thor twice a day, once in the morning (depending when I get up) 7:30, 9:00, sometimes 11:00, and then at night he gets fed at 7:00. But recently I have just been filling his bowl up because he likes to graze. He never eats all his food in one sitting so I'd like him to have food when he wants it. So somedays he gets fed twice and sometimes he can graze all day. But really, even when he gets fed twice he leaves food to graze on...yep complicated! |

| I leave the food out all day starting at 6:30 am, but Roxie apparently is not a morning eater. She usually starts eating around 2:00pm and will finish up by 5:00pm. She just keeps nibbling until its gone.

| Willy used to have a bowl of food down all the time, but the cats were eating it and one of them developed medical problems from eating his food. So now he gets fed twice a day along with the cats. They get fed in the morning sometime between 8-10am & evenings between 9-11pm. Desiree |

| My two get fed 3-4 times a day. Tuffy has to have small meals througout the day or he will get an upset stomach. I was free feeding them but Pixie was chowing down on all the food left out and she had gained weight while Tuffy was losing weight and having upset stomach issues. So now they get meal times so I can monitor that they are both eating what they are supposed to.

| I feed Twinkie 3x a day since she is so little.... I would free feed her but she is such a pig that she would quickly become overweight

| I have food out all the time. Trixie doesn't really eat much. The label on the dog food says for her weight and age she should be eating 3/4 of a cup a day. Trixie eats that in 2 days plus.

| I'm sure you will all relate to this crazy schedule Simon has to eat more and Hallie is on a diet. He needs to gain, she needs to lose so feeding is a frenzy here. They both eat breakfast, Simon gets lunch, and they both have dinner and Simon gets a snack before bed. Hallie is so sad when Simon eats and she can't, I think she is a stress/excitement eater like her mama! If I leave food in the bowl she gets some EVERY time she walks past the bowl. It is an adventure here that's for sure. I envy all of you free-feeders! |

| Always have dry kibble and water out. Yorkies and Chi eat when hungry; the Sheltie is a social eater. His food is in the main bathroom and he accompanies me when I go to the john and has a few nibbles while we're there. He does this with the other family members also. |
