YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Big BBQ tomorrow 40-60 folks Our group of BRT fanciers, breeders, owners and lovers of our breed are gathering tomorrow for a great BBQ at Kelso Lake. I have organized a Temperament Test, and we will have a few different breeds participating including the Intrepid Razzle Dazzle:-) I have 30 participants for the TT test - Gr8 turn out. Pot luck contributors are all sorted out, the challenge is to have enough food but not too much. Usually we have gads of food left over! But we are trying to limit ourselves - we have some wonderfull cooks and great and generous folks who come to these events. So given all the interest, and scads of emails flying back n forth, and a great forecast of warm n sunny weather for tomorrow. I plead guilty, I have now made 2 cakes and 2 apple pies, and am seriously considering doing my ginger pound cake, as I think we will be closer to 50 or 60 then 40..... And I am not the only one on the dessert list! I also was thinking about doing a homemade chocolate sauce, and carrying it in a thermos to the picnic. LOL do you see what happens when you get a dozen cooks involved...... My Italian friend when she comes to my house for supper, says well Gail it is official it is not only the Italians that make too much food :-) I also will take another dozen homemade hamburgers n buns - just in case we need them. I will keep them in the cooler and travel with them frozen, with any luck if we don't need them, they will keep frozen and we can eat them over the next week or so. So I just have to print off some signs n things this evening, and wash Razzle or Dara. Maybe Razzle as he is faster to do. Then bright n early Dara tomorrow am. We leave at 11:30 ish. Our car is almost packed, kitchen shelter, cooler, water toy bag, life jackets, Oh yes we need to put in our camera equipment too. Light travellers we are not. I hope to get some pics n vids from the event - although we do have a volunteer event photographer coming...

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | My crew is excited, they are following from room to room. THey know, they saw their water bag come out, and Mom can't go anywhere in the house without 3 followers. Dad can come n go as he pleases though :-) Just Razzle to wash and groom now. And I think I will use his fancy halter and lead for the TT test - I think I have a matching bow to put in his topknot. Ilona is coming! Yeah. We will start on Dara's show training late afternoon. Which reminds me - pack the treats! And the show lead n collar. That's all for now - the weather today looks superb!

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Great day was had by all. I lost count of number of folks, but we had just enough food for all! Probably 50 or so folks. Razzle Dazzle did very well on his TT test 96 out of 100 - the high scoring breed that was not a BRT got 100 out of 100. damn hard to beat that score :-) Dara our puppy got 97 out of 100. But her score didn't count for entry for the cup as she was a puppy. high scorer BRT was 96 out of 100. Such wonderfull weather, but I was so busy running between TT tests, and seeing that the BBQ was proceeding neither Dave nor I got one single pic. But Ian hopefully will post some pics of our dogs and our day! I can't tell you how sore my feet are! lol

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Thanks Lisa and Sandy. You know it is great to get involved with a group of dog lovers and those that like to work with their dogs, in what-ever capacity they can work in. There is a camaderie that is quite well, uplifting. We all struggle with similar issues, or have had friends that struggle with those self-same issues. In my heart of hearts I thought Razzle should have done better.... He was so sanguine with the threatening stranger, and even the examiner said, wow he is so very focussed on you! An obedience trainers high caveat. Focus is so key. The marble jar startled him, but he only lost I think one point there, as he backed off and barked at it. Then the examiner said put the jar down and let him examine it. The helper did, and he went immediately right up to it and sniffed it. Why did he lose a mark there? Then he lost 2 marks on the wire cage walk over. I thought he did well there. As far as I could see, but yeah I was nervous as I tried to suss out quickly if his paws would get caught in it!!! So maybe I screwed the pooch there. But I thought he walked over it rather non-chalantly and did the whole 5 ft of it too! CAn you tell I am NOT competitive in the least? LOL LOL LOL. Dara my darling puppy I was not so concerned with, we both knew what she would startle at, and of course she did what we thought. While she maybe in heat, it seems her fear stage is lasting longer. So we have already scheduled a series of experiences for her based on her TT evaluation. And that is the value of TT -it confirms or tells you new information about your puppy or young adult. Think of it as a guideline, a marker a direction of how and where to train your doggy.
