| Breeds of dogs that get along w/ Yorkies? My son & daughter are both planning on moving out on their own in January. They both want to get a dog but are concerned that the new dog must get along with our 2 yorkies. (They are such good kids) I am glad they both asked me this, since you never know they could move back home with their new family member. What breeds of dogs do others have here on YT?

| I would get a Cocker Spaniel or smaller sized dog, just so they can play. My dog is a Cocker Spaniel and I grew up with him, so I've got a soft spot for those little guys. Adopting a mixed breed is always a good plan too!

| As long as your yorkies aren't mean, any pup should get along with them. I have a shih tzu, used to have a maltese, a yorkie and 2 biewers, and they all get along. |

| Mine are so small, 5 & 3.5 lbs. Bailey is a bit afraid of bigger dogs & Angel just wants to play. They are both very sweet, not aggressive at all. My son is 6'4" & is in construction & an EMT. I told him to think about a poodle & he said he would never live that down. He was thinking about something not to hyper & midsize. My daughter wants a great dane...I told her she could not afford to feed it.

| If your son is looking for a less "fru-fru" type dog, whippets are nice dogs. They have very sweet temperments, aren't usually very hyper, and would not be too large to safely play with your yorkies.

| I don't think there is a specific breed that would get along with any specific dog... each dog is different and it depends mostly on the personality.

| Boston Terrier would be super for your son They are small enough to be good with the yorkies, have a great personality and are not "fru fru" dogs.. we have had Boston's all my life and they are great pets! as for a great dane, I wouldnt want to feed or clean up after one... lol I have a yellow lab, she is 95 lbs. and is fantastic with my babies. She is truly the best behaved dog we have(of 4) or have ever had. How nice of your children to ask you about a breed for them! good luck d

| Pugs, Papillons, Shih-tzu, Chihuahua, Toy Poodle, Maltese, Min Pin should do well with a Yorkie. |
