Default I have to rehome Pixie(weimaraner)

I am so sad and upset!!!! I do not know what to do!! We bought Pixie the beginning of Feb. My husband wasn't to sure on getting a dog period but I went and got her and he fell instantly in love!!! I like to say that we rescued her because she came from a puppy mill and looked HORRIBLE!!!!! I bought her anyways to get her away from those people! I took her straight to the vet and come to find out she was severely malnutrioned. So we put her on a good puppy food and just took really good care of her. She was staying in the house 24/7 but that became a problem...she is so tall she was putting her head on the table and pulling things off and jumping on my children and hurting them...so we decided that she would stay outside during the day only if it was pretty and we would bring her in at night to sleep. Well, now that isn't working at all....she is staying in our fenced in yard and popping COW piles where my children play...we can't even walk out side without getting dog poo all over us...so that is also where I let the yorkies out to play when the weather is nice. She is being way to rough with them!!!! As soon as we walk out she jumps all over us. It isn't her fault at all...sheisn't getting enough attention and she is so happy to see us she goes crazy!!! My husband works all day and I can't walk her with two children under 3. So it leaves us no ther choice but to rehome her. We are devasted to rehome her but we know that she deserves to be somewhere where she is has plenty of attention...she is WAY to smart and loving!!!!! We live right on a very busy road so I'm so scared to let her out the front...the only place I will let her out is the fenced in backyard and she is messing everything up!!!! This is so hard!

Isn't that were she is supposed to go to the bathroom? I'm unsure of what the other options would be.

Have you tried contacting a Weimaraner rescue?

What state are you in? You should contact the Weim rescue and let them have her. They will take good care of her and find her the perfect home.
The only thing wrong with your dog is that she has not been trained at all. They do not know what's expected of them unless you train. That includes jumping up on everyone. As for pooping in the yard, well this is where dogs are supposed to poop, and we as humans pick it up all the time so that it doesn't become a messy problem.

If you pick up her poop right after she goes there would be one problem solved.

They even have companies that come to your house and clean up the poo

My advice....clean up after your dog - handled.

Actually perhaps she would do better in another home. Good luck!

I am glad you are trying to find her a good home. From what I can tell your family situation just doesn't seem right at all for her. She needs training, walks, and other things to become a well behaved dog and it doesn't appear you have the time or desire to do that for her.

She is "messing everything up" in the backyard because she has a lot of energy and is bored silly. If she isn't getting enough attention and exercise she's definitely bored and frustrated which is why she jumps on everyone.

As far as her going to the bathroom, I'm not sure where else you expect her to go. Cleaning up after her poo is your job as a dog owner.

I'm not trying to be harsh and I do agree she would do better in a home that has the time and energy to help her become well trained and give her the attention she needs.

I would try contacting a rescue for her breed and they can work with her and then find her the perfect home once she has been trained somewhat.

This thread is a great example of why it's important to research a breed before you purchase it. Without much research at all you would find that the Weimaraners

"need extensive exercise and training. Its prized for its physical endurance and stamina. No walk is too far, and they appreciate games and play. Weimaraners are high-strung and often wear out their owners, requiring appropriate training to learn how to calm them and to help them learn to control their behavior. Owners need patience and consistent, firm (yet kind) training, as this breed is particularly rambunctious during the first year and a half of its life. This breed is known for having a penchant for stealing food from table and counter tops whenever given the chance. Like many breeds, untrained and unconfined young dogs often create their own fun when left alone, such as chewing house quarters and furniture. Thus, many that are abandoned have behavioural issues as a result of isolation and inferior exercise. It should never be forgotten that the Weimaraner is a hunting dog and therefore has a strong, instinctive prey drive. Weimaraners will sometimes tolerate cats, as long as they are introduced to the cats as puppies, but many will chase and frequently kill almost any small animal that enters their garden or backyard." This information was taken from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weimaraner

Please do research before buying an animial, and don't buy on looks alone. A word of caution: Many research sites leave out the fact that dogs poop, I'm not sure the reason for this oversite. Big dog, big poop. . . . . . little dog, little poop. I know of no breed that cleans it's own poop.

Good luck on finding a good home for your dog, I hope you inform the new owners of the high needs of this dog. It's hard on an animal that has to be rehomed.
