| Fear of Flying Hi everyone! Just wanted to see if any of you guys are afraid of flying, and if so, do you take medication when you fly? As I get older, it seems like I get more and more anxiety when I fly. I would like to find something that helps a little, don't want it to knock me out, just take the edge off a little. I always have to fly with my husband, usually have a couple of drinks, but I'm still extremely nervous. I just can't relax. I know one of these days I'll have to fly without my husband, and just the thought of it freaks me out. If you take medication, what is it and how does it affect you? Of course I'll talk to my doctor about it next time I go, but I wanted to see if any of you guys can give me some personal experiences. Thanks!

| Some friends of ours just flew with us to Orlando and Misty had her doctor prescribe something for her to keep her calm. I will ask her what it was and get back to you. It helped her alot she slept on the plane

| I fly long haul like 20+ hours with at least 1 or more transit points once every few months. I am afraid of flying until I told myself that what is meant to happen to you will happen. What isn't meant to happen to you will not happen. Its not something that is within our control. Somehow that relaxed me and gave me a peace of mind and I am then able to sleep on the plane.

| I agree. What's meant to happen will happen. I just say a prayer before we take off for a safe trip, and one when I land for a thank you. It gives me peace of mind, however I'm sure your doctor can give you something to help with the anxiety.

| I am beyond afraid to fly! We are military and so must fly for moves overseas and such. I am so bad that when the engines rev for the take off and during take off I hyperventilate and can't breath! I am also very bad on landing but not quite as bad. I do take valium and have a few drinks. I really didn't feel the valium alone helped at all but with the drinks I wasn't quite as bad. I have to bring my own drink though since I am so bad at take off and you can't get any drinks from them until after. I don't think you can bring any liquids with you now though.

| I'm not afraid but I get severly sick, so two or three dramamine work, I'm out like a light as soon as we take off and awake when we land

| flying I guess I have peace of mind about these things because I believe God determines the day we die (He is not surprised to see us at His door, He knew we were coming)..so when my day comes, I can be holding hands with the best MD in the word...and I still going right on schedule....!! |
