| Changing a Door Lock Does anyone know how to change a door knob? I have Kwikset and I took out the two screws associated with the knobs that are found on the side of the door. I thought that the knobs would just separate, but it's still in place. I'm so confused! Anyone know what to do? |

| Did you remove the latch part? That goes through a hole in the side of the door frame and joins the workings of the knob. Otherwise, give both sides of the knob a good jiggle and it should come apart.

And, I will caution you, if you are using Kwikset for an outside locking door, you may want to go exchange it for a Schlage, as Kwikset are not as secure as Schlage brand. I know Schlage are more expensive, but they are higher quality.

| Try spraying some WD 40 around the inner workings. On second thought, might it be stuck to the paint on the door? If so, try running a table knife along the edge of the knob.
