| Didn't start as a good day.... So I got up and headed to the PO to mail some packages and an E Squad came around the corner flying. Well, state law says we have to stop and let them through...but on this road there were cars parked on both sides and there was no where for me to go and I tried to move over to the right and HIT a parked truck!!!!!!!! Thankfully it was just the mirrors that hit, but I broke their mirror. She was in the restaurant and I got out of my car to try to find out who's truck it was an no one would listen to me or even look at me. So I turned the corner and parked in the PO lot because I couldn't leave my van in the middle of the road. I ran in to mail my packages and the owner of the truck came in and said "is that your van" and I cut her off and said yes I am and I hit your truck mirror." She got kind of nasty at first, and complained about the ambulance being in the way, and I just replied well I had to move over and I thought I had cleared your truck and I am really sorry and I proceeded to give her my insurance info etc but she was all ranting and raving about we need to call the police. So a state trooper shows up and he was OBVIOUSLY irritated and she kept rambling on to him and he kept trying to ask me questions and she was jumping in and answering FOR ME. He asked where it happened and i told him infront of the restaurant and she jumped in almost hysterical do you want to walk down there and see the glass?? I am sure there is glass on the road..and he was like no it is fine. But she kept going on about it and he was trying to get pictures so finally he turns to me and says, have a seat in my car...Well I flipped out at that point because I had Autumn with me and didn't want to leave her in my van and he was like just leave your windows down... So I walk to his car in tears not because I was looking at a fine, but because he made me leave Autumn in the van. So he takes his pictures and comes to his car and I told him that the other lady was in a hurry because my hitting her truck was making her late to get her hay in...so he gave her some info real quick to give her insurance and got her out of there...Meantime Autumn is still in my van and I am in the cop car one parking space away and I can't see if she had jumped out the window or if someone took her so i finally asked "can I please get my dog if I leave my keys and purse with you so you know I won't leave?" he chuckles at that point and told me to go get her and she got to sit in the back with me in the AC whew!! He was actually very nice and I think he was trying to calm me down because i kept crying and he even joked that he only needed "one more citation or a person to take in and he would have his quota filled and could go home for the day" I am embarrassed to say I flipped out and said "what?!!" and started to bawl again. He felt bad and said no it wasn't a big deal, that the damage was sooo minimal that we could have just exchanged info and reported it to the insurance ourselves without involving the police. So he has to write up a report but I didn't get a citation or a fine...Thank goodness I think God was really watching over me today!! He had let me call my FIL though who told my husband and FIL drove down to see if I was ok...and the officer and my FIL start making fun of me together! LOL saying things like does she need a breathelizer etc...not funny to me but they had a good guffaw!!

| aww that sounds like you had a rough day. I would have been upset to have to sit in his car too though! It was just an accident that anyone could have made. I'm glad they let you get Autumn. I would would been worried about her too! I'm glad that things didn't turn out too bad, it could have been worse. I'm glad no one got hurt! |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Sorry you had such a bad day. Glad you are both OK. People can be so ridiculous. It's just a car and accidents happen. Hope the day gets better for you.
