| Need help and irritated Im so tired of how people classify womens hair lenghth. Prom is in a week and a half and im not too worried about my hair. Ive been looking in books and on the internet to get an idea of what i want done but there is nothing for my length. I have long hair and no i dont consider shoulder length long. My hair goes down to my waist and everywhere ive gone all i see under long hair is shoulder length. Ive tried a search on really long hair but then i get to the shoulder blade. I feel excluded because hardley anyone even thinks to publish styles for people with REALLY long hair. I opened Seventeen magazine and they said "HAIRSTYLES FOR ALL TYPES OF HAIR" but wouldnt you know it, it doesnt include me. Everyone wants me to cut my hair but look around everyone has hair either to their shoulders or shoulder blades. i dont want to look like everyone else. I know those hairstyles are the majority but It's still unfair. If anyone can help me find a site or something that styles for my length id really appreciate it. sorry i had to get it out its driving me nuts

| Yeah that sucks...I used to have really long hair like that and mine's also very thick so salons had absolutely no idea how to deal with it. I never let anyone do my hair for school dances...I always did it myself. Even for my wedding I did it myself. If it's super long and you're not set on getting it down up, I would suggest getting a blow out and doing soft big curls on random pieces of hair, maybe even pull half of it up into a soft loose chignon. It will look nice and you dont have to bother with salons and styles. |

| Maybe you can just have it blown out so it's shiny and put a beautiful hair thingie in it. Put up a picture of you in your prom dress. Judy We've been egged |

| hair styles Here are some instructions on how to do your hair to look like a bow or tied ribbon if you like that. Start by sectioning your hair in two halves horizontally and pull each section into a ponytail. The top halve should be slightly larger than the bottom and should be about where you would put your ponytail regularly. The bottom halve should be a low ponytail so that basically you have two ponys one on top of the other. Make sure that you keep the two relatively close together to help with the next steps. Now, pull the end of the top ponytail underneath the bottom ponytail and secure with bobby pins. If someone looks at you from the side it will look like a loop. The idea is to hide the bottom pony tail. Now, take the bottom tail and split it in two sections. Fold the right halve throught the loop you just made on the right side and do the same for the left halve. Let some of the ends fall out. You shoudl now have what looks like a ribbon tied into a bow. For extra effect, leave out a few pieces of hair before you start and curl them. Also you can wrap a piece of hair around the top ponytail so everything is hidden from view. Also maybe try this website if you like any of thier styles it gives instructions. http://www.dressytresses.com/hair/gallery/default.asp Hope this helps!

| actually if you look at a lot of models and stuff they have really long hair too, past the shoulder blades, like their longest layer is mid-back. you could do big curls like a sexy victoria's secret model, or do a super super straight look (i like this look for formals, it more contemporary and edgy especially with a cute cocktail-ish kind of dress.) Also, a lot depends on the kind of dress you're wearing ... if you're wearing a princess/ball gown kind of prom dress go curls. if its a strapless/cocktail/more sleek look the straigh hair would be cute, maybe do the puff thing (i don't know the name of it) with a pretty clip or something. http://media.kansascw.com/images/ANT...%5B1%5D.a1.jpg
