| Restaurant buffets..... I don't know how you guys are, but I have always been picky about where I eat out at and stuff like that. If I go to a restaurant and see that the "cooks" aren't wearing gloves, I will not eat there. I just got done watching a special on buffets on Inside Edition. The reporters took cameras into restaurants with buffets. They were showing the cooks putting freshly cooked food on top of old food, which causes bacteria from the old food to spread. They showed how a lot of buffets don't have "sneeze guards", which is DISGUSTING. They also showed a bunch of people coughing, wiping their noses, sneezing and such then picking up food with their bare hands or picking up the utensils that are used to pick up the food. So they tested what kinds of germs are on the utensils, and they found ecoli (which is associated with feces...GROSS) and they even found a germ that causes pneumonia . It was a very interesting show, but I will never eat at a buffet again, after seeing all the gross things that go on around the food!! YUCK!!!! Just thought I'd share! Gives ya somethin to think about!

| Some friends and I were just talking about this type of stuff. We had a local fast food place shut down last month because of some nasty things the workers had done to the food, everyone was fired and replaced with new workers. If I thought about it too much, I would NEVER eat out |

| I just recently retired. Did a 25 year hitch at Consumer Health Official. I too have seen more than you could imagine. The glove thing is a joke. Don't get me wrong, gloves are great--but only if you change them between every customer and every food contact. Gloves give the public a false sense of security. Texas laws give the option of either the glove or washing as necessary. My preference in washing. I've seen employees coming out of the restroom with their gloves on. Now what would a person order when that happened? |
