| Daughter with strep related knee infection Hello, I have a 11 yr old daughter with an infection in her knee that the doctors are saying is related to her bout with strep throat a couple plus weeks ago. I am waiting for the test results right now and know some stuff about medical terms and blood tests but does anyone have any information on something like this?? And what they might do for her once they have the results in??? Any information will be greatly appreciated Thanks! |

| I'm puzzled as to what this could be. My daughter developed scarlet fever (a mild case) following a bout with strep when she was a toddler. Please keep us posted and give your daughter a big YT hug and let her know we're thinking of her.

| I have had strep...I think 47 times last episode... ...I know that if untreated, it can cause heart failure, but I have never heard of it causing infection other places. I will be very interested to know what you find out. |

| My SIL has a skin rash that is extremely itchy that's caused from having the strep virus in her system. I had never heard of that happening before. She has big spots all over her that she has to keep a cream on. Being in the sunshine or a tanning booth helps it to clear up but it's something that she will always have to live with. I'll be praying that your daughter's knee will get better. It's hard to imagine that something we associate with a sore throat can cause so many other things.

| Well we just got back from the dr and the pharmacy and she is in a lot worse pain! The pain has now gone all the way down her leg, up her leg and into her back on the left side! They are not sure what this is! They have scheduled an MRI for NEXT TUESDAY!!! Her whole leg is swollen - her knee especially and her ankle - not balloon like but enough to be able to tell!! The doctor had her in TEARS and after she already knew it was torturing her she kept on in the same places and HARD!! This is not her regular dr but she wasn't in today! Her regular dr has called me to check up on her and is going to call the dr who saw her today and is going to call me back to see if there is anything else we can do for now. They have prescribed neurontin for her for now to see if this will help. Next time I think I will just take her straight to the ER where they could do the MRI on the spot, if this medicine doesn't help that's where we will be headed tomorrow!! Last night she couldn't even have a sheet on her or she woke right up from the pain!! Thank you everyone for your concern!! Thank you for suggesting I pm you - I will do that now... |

| OMG...this is the most bizzarre thing! I really hope she gets to feeling better. Keep us updated. (And BTW, watch her on that Neurotin...it makes some people really 'goofy' when they take it. ) |
