| Something to post in your medicine cabinet I got this off of someone's blog off of my space so I don't know how many actually work but it's worth a try. I thought a few of them would be pretty helpful ( please contact your vet b4 trying the suggestions for dogs or cats) Did You Know That? Drinking two glasses of Gatorade can relieve headache pain almost immediately -- without the unpleasant side effects caused by traditional "pain relievers." Did you know that Colgate toothpaste makes an excellent salve for burns. Before you head to the drugstore for a high-priced inhaler filled with mysterious chemicals, try chewing on a couple of curiously strong Altoids peppermints. They'll clear up your stuffed nose. Achy muscles from a bout of the flu? Mix 1 Tablespoon of horseradish in 1 cup of olive oil. Let the mixture sit for 30 minutes, then apply it as a massage oil, for instant relief for aching muscles. Sore throat? Just mix 1/4 cup of vinegar with 1/4 cup of honey and take 1 tablespoon six times a day. The vinegar kills the bacteria. Cure urinary tract infections with Alka-Seltzer . Just dissolve two tablets in a glass of water and drink it at the onset of the symptoms. Alka-Seltzer begins eliminating urinary tract infections almost instantly -- even though the product was never advertised for this use. ( Note : Alka-Seltzer Plus Cold Medicine is not the same..and contains aspirin, which can cause stomach bleeding if you have ulcers.) Honey remedy for skin blemishes ... Cover the blemish with a dab of honey and place a Band-Aid over it. Honey kills the bacteria, keeps the skin sterile, and speeds healing. Works overnight. Listerine therapy for toenail fungus ... Get rid of unsightly toenail fungus by soaking your toes in Listerine mouthwash. The powerful antiseptic leaves your toenails looking healthy again. Easy eyeglass protection ... To prevent the screws in eyeglasses from loosening, apply a small drop of Maybelline Crystal Clear nail polish to the threads of the screws before tightening them. Coca-Cola cure for rust ... Forget those expensive rust removers. Just saturate an abrasive sponge with Coca Cola and scrub the rust stain. The phosphoric acid in the coke is what gets the job done. Cleaning liquid that doubles as bug killer ... If menacing bees, wasps, hornets, or yellow jackets get in your home and you can't find the insecticide, try a spray of Formula 409 . Insects drop to the ground instantly. Smart splinter remover ...just pour a drop of Elmer's Glue-All over the splinter, let dry, and peel the dried glue off the skin. The splinter sticks to the dried glue. Hunt's tomato paste boil cure ....cover the boil with Hunt's tomato paste as a compress. The acids from the tomatoes soothe the pain and bring the boil to a head. Balm for broken blisters ...To disinfect a broken blister, dab on a few drops of Listerine ... a powerful antiseptic. Heinz vinegar to heal bruises ... Soak a cotton ball in white vinegar and apply it to the bruise for 1 hour. The vinegar reduces the blueness and speeds up the healing process. Kill fleas instantly. Dawn dish washing liquid does the trick. Add a few drops to your dog's bath and shampoo the animal thoroughly. Rinse well to avoid skin irritations. Goodbye fleas. Rainy day cure for dog odor ... Next time your dog comes in from the rain, simply wipe down the animal with Bounce or any dryer sheet, instantly making your dog smell springtime fresh. Eliminate ear mites ... All it takes is a few drops of Wesson corn oil in your cat's ear. Massage it in, then clean with a cotton ball. Repeat daily for 3 days. The oil soothes the cat's skin, smothers th e mites, and accelerates healing. Quaker Oats for fast pain relief ....It's not for breakfast anymore! Mix 2 cups of Quaker Oats and 1 cup of water in a bowl and warm in the microwave for 1 minute, cool slightly, and apply the mixture to your hands for soothing relief from arthritis pain.

Our Blessings R Many Donating Member | Thanks for this. I will copy this off too, thanks. For deep splinter, scrape some white potatoe, put thick onto splinter, wrap or bandage. Potatoe will draw the splinter out. |

| You can remove small splinters by putting sticky tape over it and pulling it out. It works. Did you know that Avon Skin-So-Soft can be used as mosquito repellant, road tar remover from your car, removes glue that price tags leave, removes chewing gum from hair skin & other non-porous surfaces. I have a whole list of more things it will do if you are interested. It really works good on the road tar, I have tried it. |

| Here is the list I have for Skin So Soft: 1. Bath oil 2. After shower moisturizer 3. Makeup remover 4. Suntan oil (no sunscreen) 5. Pour some in the water of your foot saver to moisturize feet 6. Hot oil treatment to soften nails 7. Massage oil 8. Insect repellant 9. Helps relieve itching from insect bites and dry skin 10. Sponge it on screen and around doors and windows to keep crawling bugs, flies, mosquitoes out 11. Wood cleaner, conditioner and polish for natural wood 12. Removes chewing gum from hair, skin and most non-porous surfaces 13. Removes glue and gum left over from price tags and labels from glass 14. Cleans tape marks left by bandages from skin 15. Cleans ink from skin and most vinyl and painted surfaces 16. Gently cleans HEAVY grease and oil from skin and non-porous surfaces (great for mechanics hands) 17. Removes soap scum from shower doors, shower curtains, windows, bathroom and kitchen fixtures 18. Removes lime and hard water deposits from windows, fixtures, shower doors and tile 19. Removes tar spots from car finishes without damaging paint finish 20. Oil lubricant for fitting pipe joints that won't slip together easily 21. Removes paint and stain from skin--much gentler than turpentine 22 Cleans paint brushes easily, and leaves them as soft as new 23. Removes gum from carpet 24. Cuts grease and dirt from range hoods 25. Removes candle wax from furniture, carpteting and clothing 26. Removes scuff marks from patent leather shoes 27. Removes liquid nail (panelling glue) 28. Drizzle a little between two glasses or glass bowls that are stuck together and they will come apart without breaking 29. Removes ring around the collar 30. Cleans and deoderizes vinly surfaces in your car. Removes smoke odor from vinyl 31. It will leave your hands soft and smooth -- unlike harsh cleaners. Warning: Skin so soft has a strong odor. I would either try dilluting it or only using it on the "some" things. I think the odor would linger in the house. Skin so soft is pretty oily too. I would think twice before I started smearing this on my carpet for gum. (I would be really careful using it to clean wood. I would test it first to be sure it won't stain the wood.) For candle wax on carpets I use the method of placing a paper bag over the dried wax and then running a hot iron over the paper bag. It soaks the wax right up. |
