| Letter to Dad Dad, You have been gone for almost 2 years now. I can't believe how much I miss you. There are so many things I wish that I could tell you. Stef's getting married. You would like Glen, he fits in well. Adam's almost done renovating the truck. Aria's getting big, she is just like Stef. Tina is finally going to ball games again (it took her a while since you were the one who always went with her) Mom is adjusting, she has taken up square dancing. Joe and Laurie are doing great. Uncle Neil is going to be joining you soon, I hope you are there to make his passage smooth. Noreen is still waiting for the love of her life. We miss you! Michelle |

| This Father's day has been hard for me. I lost my father the other day, June 6th. I've thought of so many things that I would like to have done differently, things that I would like to have said. Dad had been in the hospital several times in the last few months and so we had time to convey our love to each other and, basically, say goodbye and I'm so grateful for that. Someone a while back posted that she had written a note to her father and had put it in his pocket at the funeral. I wrote a note and placed it in with my Dad and was able to say some of the things I wanted him to know. It was something that has really helped me. I kept his watch and have worn it today in honor of him.

| I am so sorry for your loss. I wish I had thought of the note idea. Sometimes it just comes out of the blue, you wish you could talk with him knowing that he gets you. My father and I were alike in personality (we thought alike). How much so, I didn't come to realise until he was gone. The rest of my family is like my mother (and I have a large family). I am greatful that my DH is like my Dad. My prayers are with you. Quote:

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I am so sorry for your losses. My father in law passed away in Nov and I had been taking care of him for the last 16 months. I am so glad I did. My parents are 86 years old and failing in health and I now have them living 5 minutes from me so I can take care of them. It has been great to spend this tme with them and also a little sad to see how dependant they have become and I know they hate it too.

| That letter made me cry but I'm so glad you wrote it. I don't know what I would do without my dad. We talk everyday even if we have nothing new to say and I look forward to those calls. I'm so sorry for all of you that have lost your fathers. |

| Dear Dad ,When you left me as a child I knew the love you had given me was real" although you were a absent father I held that love for many years ,Dad i know you and i recieved our love when you laid in that hospital room alone with only me by your side ,I saw love that day in your eyes ..I saw eternal peace ..I know eternal love ..May all of those who suffer from the loss of DAds ..know love is never lost , It takes but courage to look at it and own it and give it ,no one will ever take a Dads place .Yet I know we can have many Dads in our life ."God bless you Dad" R.I.P.

Our Blessings R Many Donating Member | Thanks for starting this thread in tribute to your dad and all our dads. I am reminded of the letter I wrote to my Dad many years back, when as a child my parents divorced, I never really got to know my Dad and seldom seen him. In 1979 due to spinal fusion I was flat on my back for six weeks in the hospital, had so much time to think, I thought about him and that the life he was struggling through at that time, being an alcholic. I asked for a piece of paper and pen, I held it on my chest as I lay there and wrote him I wanted to share my love for the Lord and all that he had done for me, I told my Daddy that it wouldn't cost him anything just to give his heart to the Lord and the Lord would lead him through life in a happier way, I didn't know until months later when my aunt called me and said, her brother, my Daddy had came to see her he had quit drinking and was living such a happy life. Later I got a call telling me he had cancer of the throat and had surgery, I got to talk to him but he had to speak through something to help others to understand what he was saying, we didn't get to talk but briefly and he said to me, "thank you for your letter, it helped to change my life and I know God has a plan for me, I love you." My Daddy passed away shortly after that. I am so thankful that I wrote that letter, yes, the fusion was a living nightmare but I would have gladly gone through everything all over again because with God placing me there on my back, he enabled me to think and to write the letter to my Daddy. In closing I would like to add if there is anyone that reads this and is in such a sitation to where maybe a letter to your Dad may help, all I can say is I am so thankful I wrote that to my Dad. I truely want to wish all Dad's out there a wonderful Fathers Day. To ones that Dad's have gone on to a better place, hugs to each of you. Patti |
