She wasn't even a smoker!! She leaves a behind children including a 13 year old. After the paralysis of Christopher and all!! We lived in the area when he had his accident and went to UVA, my mom actually met her and she was a very nice and genuine person. |

| I just saw an interview with her when she was in the beginning stages of treatment. It reminded me so much of going through this with my father!! He responded well and his tumor shrunk a lot!! He was doing very well, was going to see a surgeon who was thinking about taking out most of the lung with the cancer in it which would have helped immensly!! Then on Dec 5 2003 he got really sick and went into a coma. He had been sick about a couple of weeks before and I won't go into details but I know in my heart the docs let him go home long before they should have!! The cause is pretty much due to a blood clot - or many small ones - this is what I believe the docs missed or just didn't pay attention to!! Yes my father smoked 3 packs a day at his most!! He had two heart attacks and triple bypass surgery and still didn't stop!! My sister smokes and didn't stop or try throughout his illness with the lung cancer!!!!!!! Anyway - I didn't even know she had taken any turn for the worse!! And feel for their whole family!! They were both so young - she was only 44!! Luckily though her father is alive and from what I hear well - they do have a good bit of close family!! Thank goodness! |

| I was shocked. That is so sad, and for her and Christopher's son Will, that is so sad for him.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | OMG ...that's horrible. MY brothers best friend just died Saturday from Lung Cancer and he didn't smoke either...he was only 43 years old....I'm so sad for his family and my bro......Its scary because I had thought they made bigger strides in the medical field to combat cancer ...especially lung cancer. Reagan...I'm SO SORRY about your dad ....that's awful My husband is dying of COPD also so I can really relate to everything about this...it's an awful awful thing to not be able to breath. |

Villette - thank you!! I am so sorry about your husband! My dad had that also - he was also diagnosed years ago with mild emphysema(sp?) but none of that got really bad until he was diagnosed with the lung cancer! It's horrible to see someone who just can't catch their breath no matter how hard they try!! My father was on oxygen for the last good bit of his life and it's so hard when you know that even that doesn't help all that much!! My daughter and my nephew were the closest to him!! They (my parents) had custody of my nephew since he was a baby so he was like his dad!! When he died I was sooo upset because my son was only just two years old and doesn't remember him!! Then my other nephew was born one month later and never even saw him! He was the best with kids!!!! He was only 58! Sorry so long!! Again I am sorry you are going through this now too Villette!! I pray he is doing and continues to do well!! It is amazing that they don't have better treatments!! | |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Thanks sweetie...My husbands is acute and severe. He's on Oxygen 24/7 and only 55 years old. It's not good from what the doctor says....but he has some good days .... the inhalers and medications help...There are a few new meds on the market that seem to work better than what he was taking last year...but it's a very hard thing to go thru |

| Dana seemed so sweet and vibrant. Evidently she and Diane Sawyer were friends, and on GMA they were showing Dana's last interview with her from last November. They were talking about all the great things she was doing with the Christopher Reeves Foundation and she said 'It's the rent you pay for being here on earth' and went on to say how blessed she has been. So sad... I'm so sorry to hear everyones stories. My FIL was diagnosed with lung cancer last spring and its been up and down all year. He smoked heavily from a young teen until he found out at almost 70. They're in Florida for the winter now, and I can't help but worry about them. My MIL will be completely lost without him... My prayers go out to all of all of you/them.
