| Boarding, What to do?? Planning on going to North Carolina for a week in July. My extended family (brothers, sister and their parteners and children) are renting a house in Lake Lure. I have three yorkies. I was planning on boarding the two bigger ones and taking Petey with me. My sister who had made all the reservations just emailed me with a copy of the renters agreement saying I would have to pay $15.00 a day to bring him.. Now I know this isn't the most honest thing I ever did, but I was planning on just bringing Petey.. Gosh he is tiny (like a large guinea pg) But my sister doesn't seem very happy with me.. Question: what would you do?? And what does boarding cost these days?? I haven't boarded a dog in at least 5-6 years

| I know some places charge like $23 per night. I would pay the $15 dollars. It's probably a lot better priced then most places.

| I am boarding Simon and Hallie this coming week while I'm on a work trip and it is costing $28.00 per night per dog! The $15.00 sounds pretty good to me |

| Wow those prices are crazy!! I spoke to a friend down here in Florida and she told me $15.00 is the going rate for small dogs.. But $15 times 3 is $45 a day for 8 days?? Thats $360.00, that is more than 1/2 of what I'm paying for my share of the house! SO you don't think I should just sneak Petey in and keep the $15 aday. I know I'm cheap, But I can't help it!! LOL

| Thanks Chachi's mom, Thats what I was hoping some of you would say.. Petey is really still very small and I could hide him in my handbag if anyone was to come over. I could probably even hide him from my mean sister (LOL)for the first few days

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | I think it depends on where you are...we are going down to South Pardre during Spring Break and are taking the girls, but they will be staying at a day care and it is $8 a day per dog and I think $13 if they were to stay over night (which my girls aren't)...but if you call around you might be able to find other places....just make sure and do your research!!!

| Well, It isn't as bad as I thought... I just called my vet and their price is $11 a day. Thats only $176 for 2 dogs for 8 days. Yes, I'm still thinking about taking Petey against my sisters wishes. But if I have to board Petey it will be $264.00. Only problem I have now is I vaccinate my own dogs and I have to find out what kind of proof they need that I do, or even if they will let me board them without additional vaccinations???

| I've got a great idea!! Take all three with you but never let any one see all three at the same time! Let them think its all the same dog!

| Is there no one you could get to take them or come to your house and stay till you get home. Or even come over and take them for walks and feed them each day. Nicer if something like that could happen. If I was near I would do it for you. |

| I would pay rather than be asked to leave.

| kinda off topic . . . . I'm SOOOO jealous that you're going to Lake Lure! That is the most beautiful place. We took a boat tour of the lake and I could not believe the houses/seasonal homes there. The price per square foot of property was astounding! That is the home of "Dirty Dancing." We'll be near there in October and am hoping that the weather isn't too cool to go out on the lake. We are preparing for a weeklong vacation and our three yorkies cannot come with us. I have hired a bonded, licensed pet sitter to come into my home twice a day and care for Carter, Cooper and Crissy. She'll even bath them and brush them in her duties!!! It was a win win situation for us . . . no boarding at the vet's office nor a kennel! She'll be taking in the mail and newspapers and checking the premises to be sure everything is safe as well. An extra piece of mind is that our alarm system is being installed on Monday --- we're leaving on Friday afternoon.

| I would love to take all three with me, but Bell is a runner and I would never trust her...LOL AS far as having someone in to watch them , Well my hubby would never let someone in our home with out us there.. (He is funny that way) You guys are probably right about me paying.. It would be one thing to have just me kicked out, but really terrible if the whole family got kicked out I'll have to think about this a bit longer.. Thanks for the input!!
