Hi all,


Have any of you ever tested yourself to find out what your thinking style is, how others perceive you, your strengths and weaknesses, etc.?


If you're interested, you can complete a questionnaire which gives you info on the above. This questionnaire (complete with its own strengths and weaknesses) was developed by a psychologist and I find it very interesting. I always type as an INTP "The Scientist".

Yes, the Meyers Briggs! Both of my parents are INFJ's I am very close to them!


The reason I brought it up is because there was another site which said what type of dog best fit your Meyers Briggs assessment. According to that site, I am not the type for a Yorkshire Terrier! I can't remember what types it said were best for me and I can't find it, now. I thought that was even more interesting so I'm still searching for it to share.

Very interesting. I did it twice, the first time I got INTP-Turbulant-Analyst, the second I got INFP-Turbulant-Diplomat. I think both are relatively correct.

I was a esfj. It was pretty accurate with other tests I have taken over the years.

Ha ha, this test says, that I am an INFJ, and it says that its less than one percent of the population!

The INFJ personality type is very rare, making up less than one percent of the population, but they nonetheless leave their mark on the world. As Diplomats (NF), they have an inborn sense of idealism and morality, but what sets them apart is the accompanying Judging (J) trait – INFJs are not idle dreamers, but people capable of taking concrete steps to realize their goals and make a lasting positive impact.

INFJs find it easy to make connections with others, and have a talent for warm, sensitive language, speaking in human terms, rather than with pure logic and fact. It makes sense that their friends and colleagues will come to think of them as quiet Extroverted types, but they would all do well to remember that INFJs need time alone to decompress and recharge, and to not become too alarmed when they suddenly withdraw. INFJs take great care of other’s feelings, and they expect the favor to be returned – sometimes that means giving them the space they need for a few days.

Really though, it is most important for INFJs to remember to take care of themselves. The passion of their convictions is perfectly capable of carrying them past their breaking point and if their zeal gets out of hand, they can find themselves exhausted, unhealthy and stressed. This becomes especially apparent when INFJs find themselves up against conflict and criticism – their sensitivity forces them to do everything they can to evade these seemingly personal attacks, but when the circumstances are unavoidable, they can fight back in highly irrational, unhelpful ways.

To INFJs, the world is a place full of inequity – but it doesn’t have to be. No other personality type is better suited to create a movement to right a wrong, no matter how big or small. INFJs just need to remember that while they’re busy taking care of the world, they need to take care of themselves, too.

I just took it and I'm a ESFJ. Most of what they say is about right.



ESFJ PERSONALITY

People who share the ESFJ personality type are, for lack of a better word, popular - which makes sense, given that it is also a very common personality type, making up twelve percent of the population. In high school, ESFJs are the cheerleaders and the quarterbacks, setting the tone, taking the spotlight and leading their teams forward to victory and fame. Later in life, ESFJs continue to enjoy supporting their friends and loved ones, organizing social gatherings and doing their best to make sure everyone is happy.

Discussing scientific theories or debating European politics isn't likely to capture ESFJs' interest for too long. Supportive and outgoing, ESFJs can always be spotted at a party - they're the ones finding time to chat and laugh with everyone! But their devotion goes further than just breezing through because they have to. ESFJs truly enjoy hearing about their friends' relationships and activities, remembering little details and always standing ready to talk things out with warmth and sensitivity. If things aren't going right, or there's tension in the room, ESFJs pick up on it and to try to restore harmony and stability to the group.

Being pretty conflict-averse, ESFJs spend a lot of their energy establishing social order, and prefer plans and organized events to open-ended activities or spontaneous get-togethers. People with this personality type put a lot of effort into the activities they've arranged, and it's easy for ESFJs' feelings to be hurt if their ideas are rejected, or if people just aren't interested. Again, it's important for ESFJs to remember that everyone is coming from a different place, and that disinterest isn't a comment about them or the activity they've organized - it's just not their thing.

Coming to terms with their sensitivity is ESFJs' biggest challenge - people are going to disagree and they're going to criticize, and while it hurts, it's just a part of life. I took the Meyer Briggs a while back and got an ISFP. I found this description to be close to spot-on:

What's it like to be you?

Probably I'm the happiest when things are just a little different everyday. I don't want to commit to any particular way to be. I want to be able to be a lot of ways. In my mind, I am peacefully assimilating myself to a lot of different situations, flowing easily between them all. Most people don't understand there's a lot going on inside. It's always different, and if it's not always different, it's no fun.
When I'm someplace, doing something, I'm really there. The whole experience is related to that time and place. And people only see the part of me that is with them that day. That's who I am for that day, but little do they know that tomorrow I might be different.
I'm reserved when I first meet people, but I am friendly, warm, and outgoing once I've gotten to know someone. I really enjoy listening to people, hearing other people's stories and learning about them. I remember a lot of the details. I really feel thrilled and excited learning from that intellectual energy combined with that emotional energy. It gives me a sense of the person. I have a lot of interests and I can get interested in one thing, and then something else comes along and that looks fascinating. I enjoy using the skills that I do have, and they're varied. I'm always on the lookout for something that uses my skills and abilities, that will give me variety and still be stimulating and let me have a mission with people. In my best jobs, I was connecting with people and problem solving and often using tools, adapting equipment or techniques...
I like recognition. It's very important to get complimented soon after an accomplishment. If something goes unnoticed or unrewarded, it doesn't have the immediate impact that I want. I've been learning my own positive self-talk. I tend to be a workaholic at whatever it is I am doing. You might say I'm a perfectionist. I want people to be impressed with my performance. I don't want anyone to be unhappy with my performance so I continue to perform, and that is kind of a driving force. It has been a constant struggle to not overdo it. I need a positive environment to work in and I need the people I'm working with to support me.

How interesting!


INTP's are extremely rare and even moreso for women.


Apparently, as a woman, I am underdeveloped in "feeling" as I give priority to logic.


INTP and INFP results are common and I think I read somewhere that if you flip between the two, you are normally INFP in the main.

Lol -- despite how rare they are, I'm not one bit surprised you're a fellow INFJ !

I'd say the Mother Teresa WAY outweighs any Mel in ya ! Unless it's Mel from Braveheart....one of the few Mels I really like.
