| An Important Post for Women (and Men) I just wanted to make this thread as a reminder of the importance of breast exams for Women & MEN. Health insurance covers them and if you don't have health insurance, you can easily get an exam at a free clinic for women in minutes. My mom has breast cancer even though she had her yearly mammogram exam. If she didn't catch it early, she would be dead already. Her friend just got diagnosed a couple days ago; her doctor died five years ago and she hasn't been since, so she didn't catch it early and she's in big trouble. She's the inspriration for this post.. I know I'm preaching, but I don't care. It's REALLY not worth putting off. It could mean your life. Breast cancer is very common and VERY treatable if caught early. So everybody: overcome your fears, grab your sisters, husbands, daugthers and whomever else is at risk and get it done.

| I know your supposed to do regular self-checks, but at what age should you start making a special appointment just to be checked? I thought mammograms weren't until you were around 40? Does it count if the doctor checks me during my regular appointment? Sorry to hear about your mom's friend. I'll keep her and your mom in my thoughts and wish them both a complete recovery. |

| I have been doing self exams since 16. A girl I grew up with had breast cancer @ 15, so I don't ever think it's too early. 40+ are at a higher risk, but it could happen to anyone.

Donating YT 14K Club Member | You're right. Breast cancer is an epidemic in our country. It's not must for women anymore because men can get it also. Thanks for the reminder.
