| Who are your favorite people in life? I hate to have favorites, but I do. I guess what I am asking -- do you have any people in your life that you just feel SO incredibly lucky to have be a part of it? Obviously, I love my mom and dad. I've always had a pretty good relationship with both, though I maybe relate more to my dad and was always a daddy's girl. Anyways, when I was born, my mom was looking for someone to watch me while she worked. One of her good friends (now my godmother) suggested her mother - as she used to babysit kids during the day years before. So... at 3 months of age, I began going to Pat's house. It wasn't a daycare, just me and Pat. Her husband Bill would get home from work around 5 or so most days and he would usually bring me a surprise, whether it be a candy bar or whatnot. He bought his first video camera and basically taped my every day life over there at their house (I still have over 30 VHS tapes of my whole childhood). He worked for the govt. and traveled a lot, so he would bring me back goodies from other countries. He used to read to me all the time, even the newspaper, and I still credit him with my fast reading and writing skills. When I started school, Pat usually picked me up. Whenever there would be a snow day or whatever, Bill would be thrilled to play me with out in the snow most of the day. I had Christmas' every year there - like full blown out Christmas with tons of presents under the tree for me waiting the day after Christmas or so. Basically I was like their first grandkid. Then their one daughter had a baby and Pat began watching him too, so he became like my first brother. Anyways, eventually, I was too old for a babysitter of course. But they are like family and still, at 21, I visit them as often as possible. They have five grandchildren now, besides me, and they moved to South Carolina about 3 years ago and I've gone twice a year every year since. Their kids and grandkids are still here though so I see them often. They are just the coolest, most down to earth, genuine people ever and I've learned SO much from them and still do. Bill is a very analytical guy and always informs me of something new. I truly believe my life would be completely different had they not been a part of it. I truly feel very lucky to have such people in my life because I know not everybody does. Do you have any of these kind of people in your life, who have really just made such a great impact?

| That is an awesome story, truly show how easy it to love good people. I am glad you have them in your life (and they have you). I have many favorite people in my life, from all different walks of life. I was parentless at a very early age and raised by my Aunt and Uncle who did an awesome job of loving me and making me feel like I fit in. Thanks to them I have had the opportunity to love many of my extended family (mostly all whom promised to help them with me). I have friends that I have kept in touch with my entire life who can make my day with a simple hello on Facebook. Right now my favorite person in the whole entire world is my Niece's 18 month old little girl Audrey. She is such a spitfire, ball of energy and just so happy. She always has time for a hug and a "Hi" and will never let you forget "she can do it". The little girl is beautiful but she has no interest in being a girly girl, her idea of fun is climbing (my kind of girl). Thank you for starting this thread it was good for me to remember how Blessed I am.

| I have a few. My mom and sister are pretty cool. Love two of the besties, Kristen and Lisa. Also, Kevin - might as well be my second dad. As for mentor - amazing - that'd be my shadowee (my vet ). She has been so awesome. Changed my world.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Nice thread at Christmas time. I've been blessed with great friends. And as old fashioned as it might seem, my husband is one of my most favorite person in my life. I have a great friend Susan, who shares many of the same interests, but we go through phases of how often we see each other. I love her sense of life, humor, her intelligence, and her spontaneity. Some of my fav folks, have now passed on. A very kind woman who not only taught me to sew, but to value my imagination, my athleticism, and my "differentness".

| I thought I'd bump back up this thread. I loved your guys stories - it's awesome to have such caring people in your lives, isn't it? I always just feel so sad for those who are all alone, sometimes even with "family" all around them, but are essentially all alone. I just don't take for granted one minute of the awesome people that have graced my life.

| I love my mom and my daddy. I too have been a huge daddy's girl. But wouldn't trade my mom for anything in the world. I have a grandmother that is still alive too. I love her dearly. She is a feisty little lady. I have one brother and one sister and numerous nieces and a nephew. Oh boy could I tell some stories on my brother and sister. But I will not. Ha ha. I have two handsome boys that are the center of my world. And a wonderful husband who puts up with me and my craziness. And he even loves my yorkies. I am blessed with many friends and co-workers. I believe that God puts you in the right place at the right time. And he has truly blessed me. Gosh I could just keep going. But I will stop so I don't bore you!! Lets just say that I am thankful for all the wonderful people in my life.

I am a homeschooling mother and have had the privilage to watch them grow, every day pretty much all day. Most are adults now and I am enjoying having them as friends as well. My dad,who had wisdom to share and joy to give. He always treated me with respect even as a very little girl. |

| My grandparents, no matter how much life changes, my grandparents have lived in the same home, have had the same phone number, have the same routine. They were always there when I was a kid, we took sunday family drives with my parents and them every sunday as kids. I love shoes, even at a young age and my grandmother used to come over with some funky shoes on and I'd say I love them and she'd give them to me right off her feet and go to her car and get her shoes. They were new for me, haha but she made it seem that she'd give me the shoes off her feet! She was also always sooooo crazy! She liked to travel and she drove fast and crazy, she was full of energy! My grandfather always made us fried potatoes for breakfast when we slept over. Weird that I remember that. My grandmother used to freeze bananas for us! They are both 80 years old now, they have slowed down quite a bit and my grandfather has become ornery in his older age, my grandmother has Alzheimers now (not terribly bad yet though). They stick close to home now, but they always love when we all come over and bring the great grand kids and visit with them. It makes their day. They always still have Oreo or chocolate chip cookies for us and now the younger kids. They are wonderful people. My little brother is also another 'favorite' of mine. He is awesome! He is 30 years old, in the military. He is doing soooo well for himself! He is the happiest person I know. He has been engaged 5x and married (and divorced) 2x. He is always in debt and 'trying to pay it off' .. but he never gets jaded, he never gets down, he always has a smile, is quick to laugh and he has the best laugh ever. He has a love of life that Ive never seen in another person. He is quick to fall in love, quick to fall out, quick to laugh, quick to spend money, generous to EVERYONE. He is refreshing compared to so many people I know who get beaten down, judgmental and jaded (including myself). When I talk to him I always realize no matter what, everything will be ok!

| Love this thread.. I have the best parents and grandparents in the world. They have stuck with me, even in times when they shouldn't have and I honestly don't know where I'd be without them. Probably in a box in the street somewhere. My dad is my best friend and I'm his sidekick, my mom is always there to pick me up and knock me down (when needed ) and my grandparents are so darn cute, stubborn, and giving. I could only hope that when I get older I can be half the person that any of them are. Lastly, my favorite person is my husband. Despite only being together for 5 years (marriage one year) I think we've been through everything. He grounds me, annoys me, loves me, drives me nuts, makes me laugh, and makes me want to be a better person. He's way too tolerant of my control freak ways and chills me out when I'm too uptight. Those are the best people in my life, and I'd do anything for them.

| I love my entire family but without a doubt...my husband is my favorite person. He is the kindest, sweetest, intelligent, generous, selfless, hardworking and the most ethical person I have ever met. I admire his integrity, his strength, sense of family, sense of humor, and how he cares for me and others. I thank God everyday for him as he is by far my biggest blessing.

| I am my most favorite person! If I don't find myself to be the best I can't find anyone else that is the best either. Dad taught me that. Next up is my GF, she is PRETTY DARN AWESOME If my dad was still in my life he'd be my second favorite Love my mom too but she gets on my nerves, she is the most loved but not my most favorite!
