| Three excellent schools. What does your son want to study or what are his areas of interest?

| All very good schools- has your son visited the three schools? There are so many good colleges out there, but college can be one of the best times of someones life, so it is so important to find a place where he will be happy, feel like he fits in, and can enjoy his time.

| He has visited all before applying and has now been accepted. We're now going on the Accepted Students weekends and he has to choose by May. (He is also on waitlist at Georgetown and Johns Hopkins...could change things, but that's a longshot!) He wants to go into medicine and loves history.

| You must be very proud of your son. I would choose based on which has the strongest pre-med program, and as ArmaniMan noted, where he feels most comfortable.

| Thank you. I have always been very proud of him...especially of who I know he is inside. He has taught me a lot over the years...I'll miss him when he's so far away! But, I couldn't be happier for him! And, I'd be proud of him if he wanted to scoop ice cream or sell t-shirts out of the back of his car!

| My boss is an orthopedic surgeon subspecializing in Sports Medicine and went to Boston College! He loves that school.

| I would advise not to just look at the college, but also to look at the area surrounding the college. My college is excellent, has very good programs especially for engineering students, but it is in a dieing city. There is no jobs for the students and that makes it very hard for them to support themselves. Also look into the completion rate, ours is less than 48% which is very scary but I do believe that that may have to do a bit with our dieing city and people dropping out to go elsewhere, if I wasn't from here I would have gone elsewhere sooner just because of how bad the city is. Also talk to the students in the field he desires to go into to get their feel about the program and the instructors in it. Please tell him good luck in his decision and also to get involved in the school life I didn't and I regret it, this is my third year and I'm so jealous of everything I missed out on and now my course load is too heavy to do anything really! Schools offer so many things to participate in like cookouts, and there are always so many freshman activities to get the students involved so don't miss out! Sorry for being so long winded just wanted to put that all out there!

Then I would look into the schools pre-med program, do they have pre-med advisors? The College I went to had pre-law advisors, which was one of the reasons I chose it. You could start meeting with them on day 1 if you wanted. They helped you chooses classes that would look good for Law Schools, they helped you choose LSAT review classes, helped you proofread applications and essays, pick schools to apply to, etc. The whole application process is so lengthy and complicated, it was wonderful to have someone there that could help out and had been through the process many times before. My pre-law advisor also ended up being a great reference for me because I had known her almost since I started at the school and we had talked about my goals for so long. Also looks at how many of their students get into Medical Schools and what Medical Schools they get into.

| I am from New Orleans, but I love Boston. I would choose Tufts or BC. Boston is such an intellectual place, with M.I.T. and Harvard also. Although i love New Orleans, and I was born there, it has become a city of haves and have-nots, resulting in a lot of violent crime. A woman can walk through Boston Common any time of night, alone, without any fear. You can't say that for N.O. |
