| What would you do? I am so mad for my boyfriend right now. We work at the same company, and in the same department. At the start of June, work was pretty slow so he was told to use all of his banked time and stay home for a few weeks. When he came back, they told him to go back home. Each week he came back and they told him to go home. It's been almost two months now. They were going to send him out of town on a job at the start of July but that keeps getting pushed further and further back. Just a few days before he plans on leaving, he gets told the contractor pushed the job back another week. However, he was promised by the project managers that he would have any weekends off that he needs, so we have bought concert tickets together, and he has made plans with his family for things such as his grandparents' 60th anniversary (they are in their 90's and may not be around much longer) This morning he got told to scratch his plans, he's getting sent up north to a mine, 13 hours away, for a job that is 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off. That means selling our concert tickets (when in our lives will we get another chance to see ACDC in the canadian prairies?) He has no choice. Either he goes or they'll fire him. I am so upset right now. They always walk all over us like that. If I could, I would quit right now and he'd be forced to stay here in this department because I'm the only person left to run it. Unfortunately with just getting a mortgage I can't leave without a backup plan He just got called to have a talk with our manager.

| He was just told he has one hour to decide if he wants a job or not. B.S.

| Sorry, I don't have any advice, but I hope it works out for the both of you. It sucks that with the bad economy many are forced to just "suck it up," because they need the paycheck and jobs and few and far between right now.

| Thanks for the reply Our field of work is still pretty booming here. At the moment, he is applying for other jobs. He ended up telling our managers that he will go up north So now I'm stuck with trying to find someone to go to a concert with. He's hoping that another job will come up before he's gone and he can quit here. I feel like I should have left the company a long time ago too. I'm going to shoot for finding a new job this fall.
