| Our quail eggs have started to hatch! We have 3 so far!!! The incubator takes 7 eggs, we ordered only 7 but they gave us 10! I could'nt just throw 3 away so I placed them in carefully and have been turning them manually! Not sure how many are going to hatch though! Its exciting stuff! I've taken some pix and a couple of videos but can't find my card reader-as soon as I do I'll post them! They are tiny-the size of bumble bees-I'm sooo broody!LOL!

| Are they button quail? My aunt hatched a few last year and then she dumped them on me, so now I have 2 button quail! They are cute little things.

| They are Chinese Painted quail (I think you in US call them Button Quail)! My fella's mates dad is taking these ones for his avairy! My plan originally was to sell them via our local petshop-don't bash me! I'm not after making money-the equipment alone cost over £200 so I'll never make money. Our petshop is fab-family run by friends of ours and they are very knowledgeable about the animals they sell and will absolutely not sell to children or idiots But as I've said we have homes already for these little guys and they live right by us I've found my card reader (in the toy box) so I'm gonna upload and resize and see if I can figure out how to use U-tube so I can post a video!

| OK so theres only one pic worth posting-others are too blurry the vids better but you'll have to be patient! Theres only two chicks on this pic its before the third hatched. The incubator is less than 12" long so that should give you an idea of how small the chicks are I can't open the incubator til the last chick to hatch is totally dry so sometime tomorrow or Wednesday (to give the other eggs chance to hatch) they're actually not due to hatch til tomorrow so with a bit of look we'll get a few more

| Right its finally done! My 11 yr old dtr is doing the camera work so bear with her! This vid shows chick no.3 hatching (its a bit dark). The music does'nt last as long as the vid but I'm not messing with it now! Oh and my dtr put her finger in the way so you can see how tiny the chicks are!

| I can't believe how small they are! That was great getting to see that one hatching. When do they get to come out of there and where will they go? How long do you keep them for before they can leave?

| There are now four! I have transfered them to the brooder (its fab I'll post pix later-we're off to the dentist for a check up in a min) I'm going to leave the other eggs in the incubator for another 24 hours-the special scope I bought to view the eggs did'nt work because the eggs were too small so I've no idea if they're going to hatch or not! I know I should have candled them but it won't do no harm to wait and watch! AThey will stay with us til they're 5-6 weeks by which time they will be fully feathered and trying to mate(assumming we have a mix of sexes)!
