| New Spotbot HELP! OK, after reading may reviews on the spot bot I decided I have had enough on my hands and knees and went out and got one. Tonight I am trying it out with vinegar and water solution to get some urine stains/smells out BUT... the manual part doesn't work!! Did anyone have an issue with this when they got theirs? thought I would ask since I know many of you have these and I don't want to drag it back to the store to get a new one! |

| Are you talking about the hand-held attachment? Mine doesn't work either - never has. I have a bissell pro heat - so no worries here - I just use the bissell for furniture. But it'd be nice if anyone has any answers....

| yes, the hand held part doesn't do anything when I push the button. It just blinks a green light at me until I get frustrated and shut it off! The automatic settings both work fine though! |

| NO! I have tried everything! We are going to pack it up and return it for another one later this week. I did a quick search and found that this seems to be a common issue... Too bad too because the automatic part really works! We took the black light out to find the spots and they were gone! |

| I have the Spot Bot made for pets and the hand held works great. I couldn't imagine not being able to use it because the only complaint I have about my Spot Bot is that it leaves the carpet too wet. I always go back over the spot with the hand held. |

| I only have the little green....But I found this ...thought it might be helpful.... first developed an interest in the Bissell Hands Free Spot Bot when I saw it advertised on television & thought it would be perfect for my fiance. He has two cats that get sick constantly! In fact, I found myself not wanting to pet his cats because they made such a mess. I decided that my reaction was unfair to everyone involved & desperately wanted a way to live with his cats in harmony & thought that the Bissell Spot Bot might be the answer. I have a cat of my own & I attempted to switch her food to the food that my fiance uses for his cats, sure enough, she couldn't stomach the food either & proceeded to get sick ALL over the house. I knew that the Bissell Spot Bot was pricey & debated purchasing it, but over the last decade I have developed both bursitis & tendonitis from working on computers all day which makes putting any kind of "muscle" or "elbow" in to scrubbing out a stain both extremely painful & difficult. Deciding to save my shoulders the pain of scrubbing I went out and purchased the Spot Bot at Home Depot for around $130.00 & took it home. I took it out of the box & it was pretty much ready to go, or at least I don't remember having to put anything together. If I did, it was so easy I don't remember it. I do remember that when I first attempted to use the Spot Bot, no solution was actually hitting the stain. Figuring I had a defective machine, I took it back to Home Depot & exchanged it for another one with the same result. Curious as to what Bissell had to say I called their support line which I found on one of the items found within the packaging. I talked to a very nice representative who said that this seems to be a typical problem when the Spot Bot is shipped. The hose that moves the solution dries out. To fix this, he had me detach the manual hose which has a trigger & hold the trigger until a little bit of solution spurted out of the hose. Once I had done as instructed the Spot Bot was ready for action. Since it had taken about 3 days to take care of everything above, I was hoping that my quick swipes at the evidence of my kitties upset stomach hadn't set in as I had used no solution just a damp cloth to get the extra ick off of my floor. The Spot Bots solution chamber was easy to fill & I found that it did not leak once it was correctly situated. I then went about the business of cleaning all of the spots that my cat had gotten sick around the house by setting the Spot Bot over the area & pressing a button. I was able to use it on 6 spots before needing to refill the solution chamber. I was amazed at the results! There was no more stain. Granted, the Spot Bot did not seem to suck all of the water out of the carpet so it was a little wet where I had put the Spot Bot, but that would have happened had I cleaned it myself too. I just let the area air dry & once my housekeeper did the regular weekly vacuuming (yes, vacuums are hard for me to push because of my shoulders also) the area looked GREAT! I do remember thinking that the Spot Bot was a little loud, but its no louder than a regular vacuum so I figured I could live with the noise, though my cat runs & hides from it, same as she does the vacuum. I then proceeded to use the Spot Bot on all of the small gray spots that were developing on my carpet from daily traffic. I've read other reviews that say that the Spot Bot discolors the carpet, but I'm beginning to formulate a theory about that. See, my carpet is a newer carpet that has a thick pile & there are after removing the gray spots there are no signs of discoloration at all where the Spot Bot has been. So, I'm beginning to believe that the carpets that the Spot Bot has been tested on may appear discolored where the Spot Bot was used because the spot that the Spot Bot was on is actually clean whereas the surrounding carpet may need a good cleaning. I mean, carpets are supposed to be cared for at least once a year to keep them well maintained & nice looking, but most people I know skip this & do it only once or twice, once when they move in and once when they move out, even if they've lived in the same house for 20 yrs. Not knowing when I would have an opportunity to use my Spot Bot next I made myself a cup of coffee & took it over to the couch a few days later. I took out the Spot Bot & cleaned the area. You'd never be able to tell what's gone on in my house now that I have the Spot Bot. I'm planning on taking it over to my fiance's house next. That'll be the real challenge, he has much cheaper, flatter carpet than I do & he lets the stains sit MUCH longer than I could ever tolerate. I'm expecting the Spot Bot to perform its magic once again. All of this without having to get down on my knees & scrub. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone with arm or knee injuries that prevent them from getting on all fours & scrubbing, but who still want to maintain a superior level of cleanliness
