YT 2000 Club Member | My 14 year old son Kennedy dislocated his Knee He was at a skate party his school had in the morning for kids that did well for the ending of the semester. Some other boy went to turn to rollerblade backwards and somehow Kennedy ended up toppling down and he dislocated his Knee We got him into the doctors and they took X ray's and tried to re set his knee and it will not stay in place He was good about it but I passed out when they were messing with his knee, (I guess it's not just blood that makes me pass out, it's my child being in PAIN that can do it too) They said he has to go to the specialest and possibly have knee surgery because he has ligament and tendon damage. We will know more then. They are trying to get the swelling down for now so he has to stay off his feet and take pain and anti inflammatory meds. I am worried because Kennedy is my son that has the Immune Defect and our past history with him having surgery is not good. Because of his Immune Defect he would get blood and /or hospital infections after every surgery he had so that is on my mind on top of him being hurt and in pain! I had such a hard time sleeping because I am so worried for my Kennedy.

| That has to be extremely painful! I will keep him in my prayers! My 7 year old cracked his growth plate in his knee just over a year ago and not only did it swell up his entire knee, but his ankle as well! I have heard that dislocations can be more painful than fractures because they can affect the nerves more. I hope he recovers quickly with no infections!

YT 2000 Club Member | We just got back from seeing his family Doctor this morning and they tried to set his knee back in place again but it keeps slipping back out Kennedy was in so much pain while they did this,he was crying poor guy! They put him on stronger pain meds for the weekend. He was told to stay off the leg all weekend and We have to go back in on Monday and will know what the plan of action is. For now x ray's showed tendon and ligament damage, both are torn. Thankfully the artery looked fine, so that was good to hear.

YT 2000 Club Member | update on My son We went to the Doctor on Monday and they still can't get his knee cap to stay in place. His leg is still pretty swollen up still. They said he tore his ligaments and tendon and damaged the cartilage that sets under the knee cap, so he has a lot going on at one time. They set up an appointment for Thursday at 8:30 with the Orthopedics, So we will know more then.
