| My hubby rescued a dog!!! My hubby found a little dog out in the country - long story - little guy looked like benji! He was all matted, to the skin. Hubby called to see if he could bring him home - I say sure - wondering what in the world I was going to do with the little guy. I shaved him down and all the hair on his back came off in one huge mat. He had sand burs (stickers) all up and down his legs and on his chest - some were matted to his skin. His butt hole was matted shut - I have no idea how he pooped. We took 25 ticks off him and then treated him for fleas. He is the best tempered dog, he sat without moving the whole time I shaved him. He is a real sweetie pie. Took him to the vet today, he is only about a year old and in perfect health. My daughter and granddaughter are thrilled with him and they are going to keep him. We got him a belly band tonight because I don't think he's ever been in the house. They will have to work on potty training. I'm posting some before and after pix! Oh! his name is Harley! Picture #3 is the before picture - they got rearranged in posting. Pictures 1, 2, and 4 are after pictures

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | OH MY GOSH!!! BLESS YOU A THOUSAND TIMES!!! He is ADORABLE! He is absolutely adorable. I just think the world of you for taking this precious baby in. I'm so angry for the way you found him and I'm heartbroken when I think of how he suffered and survived on his own, but I'm so happy you have him. Tell your hubby he is a HERO in my eyes.

The vet said he is all or at least almost all schnauzer. We were so shocked because he looked nothing like a schnauzer before he was shaved. We used to have schnauzers and he does look just like them. We think he had never been shaved and the hair we shaved off he'd had since he was a puppy. He is a very calm and so sweet. He won't jump up on your lap, but if you lift him up, he will sit with you and snuggle. He will jump down but not up. I don't think he has ever been in a house, he just stands around and looks at everything. He plays very well with the other dogs - a WILD and CRAZY one year old pug and an old grouchy weenie dog. We haven't introduced him to Rex and Rowdy yet, but I think they will all be just fine. We are lucky to have found him - my 12 year old granddaughter is completely in love with him and so is my daughter. Oh and I am NOT a professional groomer - he goes Thursday for a real grooming (have to wait 3 days after his shots which he got today) after which I know he'll look a lot better.

| I love hearing stories like this! Rescues and finding homes! I thought as soon as I saw the picture, Schnauzer! I had one as a little girl and he reminded me of our Heidi! I'm glad he has a good home!

| Awww what a wonderful thing to do !! You can tell he's so grateful. Look at that second pic...he's nuzzled into your shoulder as he's saying "thank you". What an awesome happy ending for this little one.
