| New addition to our family...Gavin born 7/25 We finally had our baby boy. I spent 4 nights at the hospital. I went all the way up to 40 weeks. I had not dilated and I went into the hospital on 7/24 for cervidil to help soften my cervix to help me dilate. It did not help much at all. Friday morning my cervix was still thick. I was having contractions and got an epidural. I was worried about getting it(the pain), but all I felt was pressure while getting it. I was so glad I got it. They monitored my progress and contractions all day Friday. Whenever I would have a big contraction Gavin's heartbeat would go down. They put me on oxygen and kept having me rotate laying on my side. Doctor had tried to break my water earlier Friday, but that did not work and that was pretty painful. By 4pm on Friday, I had only dilated to 2-2 1/2cm. The doctor then came back and was able to break my water and gave us our options of c section or waiting longer to see what happens. I told him he was the doctor and needed to make the decision of what was best for Gavin. Doctor montiored contractions and heartbeat for next half an hour and looked over the contractions ect for that day. Nurse came back in about 4:30 and said we are doing a c section and they quickly was getting me ready. I was awake when they starting the c section and then I was out. I was told I asked the doctor while in surgery when I could have another baby . The medication and the fact that I was so tired took a toll on me. I don't remember moving me to my room or anything afterward. I am breast feeding and the nurse assisted Gavin to breast feed from me while I was out. I have no memory of this. I do remember after waking up that I could not hold him because I was shaking so much from the meds. This went on for a few hours. I could not even open my eyes but could hear everyone in my room talking that came to visit. Both Gavin and I are doing good. My incision healed great. The staples were taken out on Monday before we left the hospital. Gavin weighed 9lbs 4oz at birth. He is a big boy. He is now getting up once to eat during then the night usually about 2:30am and then he is up again about 6am. He looks just like his daddy. I would like to thank sondra2004 for all the great baby gifts she sent. Gavin got lots and lots of clothes, toys, bucket hat(I had been looking for), cloth diapers for burp cloths, scrapbook packet, night gown for me, toy for furbabies, picture frame. Sorry if I missed some things but there were lots of great things. The package was awesome. It was delivered while I was away at the hospital so it was a nice surprise to get when we came home. Sorry I have no pictures yet to post. Our computer crashed and hubby has not put the software back on yet to do our pictures, but hopefully soon. Below is link to the hospital announcement though.
