| Tim Russert has died Just heard on the news that NBC correspondent/anchor of Meet The Press Tim Russert died today. He apparently collapsed in his office at work. He just returned from Italy where he vacationed with his family. His son just graduated from college and this was a celebration trip for them. He apparently died of a heart attack.

| OMG! That is so sad!! What a great man!! He will truly be missed!!! His book about his father was fabulous!! He was sooooooooo close to his dad and son. What a tragedy that it happened on Father's Day Weekend. His son had a tattoo put on him that had his granddad and his dad (Tim) and said that he always wanted to have them close to him. Isn't that sweet!! RIP Tim!! We will miss you!! |

| What a great loss to all of us. I loved the man and never missed his Sunday show "Meet the Press", loved his first book the best "Big Russ and Me' and his relationship with his father was so like mine with my dad, that is what drew me to him to start with years ago. He was a genius at the art of interviewing and worked his heart out in politics. He had his family trip after his son graduated from college and just got back a week ago but yesterday he had to close up his Dad's house and put him in a nursing home and knowing Tim's loving nature, I'm sure that is what killed him. RIP TIM RUSSERT

| It is very sad. He was the one that got me interested in politics and the only one who really could explain it all in a way I could understand. You could see by the twinkle in his eye that he dearly loved politics and being a part of it all. He will be missed indeed.

| Gracie2006 thank you so much for posting this afternoon. Your thread is where I was first informed of this sad news , and have been watching MSNBC since following the coverage that has been continual. I normally have msnbc on in the background all the time, but somehow didn't today, and couldn't believe my eyes when I saw your post. I too really admired this man. He seemed such a sincere, genuine, devoted, and loving man in both his professional and family lives. We had gotten his book about his father a few years back for Father's Day. CrystalsMom that is one thing I had not heard during the coverage today, and like you said knowing how much he loved his dad that would have been soooo stressful for him to have closed up his father's house. Bless his heart. His geniuine character in today's world is a rarity and he will be missed.

| I hope you got to see 'Meet the Press" this morning. Tom Brokaw did a wonderful job and all the others told such wonderful stories. It was truly one of the nicest tributes to that dear man. You might be able to find it on YouTube tomorrow if you missed it.

| Yes I have thank you. I have had MSNBC on all weekend, and they have been pretty much been doing tribute shows to him all weekend. I have it on right now, and it has been bringing tears to my eyes. It is so ironic, that he has passed away on the beginning of Father's Day weekend....if we had to mourn him, it is fitting that it be this weekend. I will have to buy the 2nd book he wrote after the BigRuss Father one. He didn't intend to write the 2nd one, but he recieved so many stories and comments from readers and listeners to his first book, about their fathers, that he decided the stories needed to be shared. They said his son Luke graduated from Boston University in History, and had a sports/talk? program at the school. I wonder what his plans will be. I feel so sorry for his wife Maureen, son Luke, and father Russ. What a loving family......

| Yes, if it's a great loss to us can you imagine how the loss must be to his family. I was wondering if they would tell Big Russ but they would have to and he would want that TV on at 10:30 am no matter how bad his condition is and he would wonder where his son was I think. Mentally I'm not sure how he is. I loved the part where they were talking about how he wanted his friends to get ahead and he helped all he could. Also the young people starting out at NBC.....he often said "the best thing you can do for a human heart is picking someone else up" and talking about the way he dressed and they said "Oh he really had 3 tailors L L and Bean" lol He sure was one of the good ones.
