| Floppy Ears (OVER A YEAR OLD) My dear little boy Teddy has always had floppy ears, I did all the usual like clipping the hair etc when he was very young, he has never lifted his ears up. He can pull them right back, and his hearing is fantastic. Will he every lift them or is it too late. Have any of you got the same situation. I LOVE HIM TO BITS ALL THE SAME. |

Cocoa's are floppy and they do lift when he hears something unusual. Its my fault though I didn't do anything like tape them or anything; I like them that way. Its different. Maybe someone can give you advice. | |

| It must be something with the name since my Teddy is the same way actually. It's very rare that after a year one day they'll just decide to go up, but I never say never since everything and anything is possible. Does it bother you them not being up? I will admit initially it did bother me but now it's like that's a part of his personality and it sure doesn't change what a wonderful little addition he is to my life. Ears up or down all of mine are priceless to me!

| I have the same problem...he's 10 months old now and there both down.....I taped and taped for three or four months....every time I took the tape off they went down....I would get anywhere from one day to four days til they fell...\ I would prefer them up ....but if tis is what's there going to do then I'm ok with it....I just feel he would have more of the yorkie look if they where up.....

| It's All In The Name .... What a good name (LOL) I called my little boy Teddy as he looks like one, and has round eyes and sits like a bear. It doesn't bother me, only the fact that I am concerned about health issues, as I have heard it can cause more problems if their ears are floppy. So does your Teddy have his ears up and down? As in the photo they are up. My Teddy has never lifted his right up like that. Is it a know genetic defect does anyone know? Any health issues I should look for too? |

| Cute I agree your yorkie baby is adorable, they do look cute with floppy ears and they are different. I have had two other Yorkies and Max (who passed away 14 months ago) Has his ears up all the time. He never put them down, even when he died they stayed bolt upright. Levi my oldest can put his up or down. Teddy has just decided he is different I think. His Mum & Dad could lift theirs, although his Mums were a little floppy |

| Sophie turns 3 next month and her ears are floppy. We tried to get them to stand a few times but just decided what ever happenes happens. Her ears are rather large and her hair is really thick so that is probably why they didn't stand. I was a little disappointed at first but now it is just part of her charm. As far as health problems I really haven't seen any so far. Although she did have one ear infection but the vet said it was caused by her allergies. Here is a pic of my floppy eared girl.

I named mine Teddy because I collected Teddy Bears. His ears actually with time seem like they want to stand but the ends flip over so he looks like the flying nun. lol! And the pic is of my Toby not Teddy...I have 2 regualar yorkies and 2 biewer yorkies. Teddy's are down, Toby's are up, Hanne's are up and Indigo's are down. Teddy most commonly carries his like he's a bunny rabbit. Where Indigo's look just like your Teddy's exactly. HIs were up but fell and he's allergic to any sort of tape so we decided to just let him be who he turned out to be. And no I have never in his 3 years had any issues with his ears being down. Where genetics are concerned...I really can't say for certain since I have seen many who's don't stand produce pups who's stand up perfect. Where in the UK are you from? I have a great pen pal from Bristol who I actually met on here when I joined almost 3 years ago.

Max and Abbie both have floppy ears. I taped them once but it seemed so painful when I took the tape off so I decided that I wasn't going to tape them again if they didn't stay up. They haven't had any health issues because of their floppy ears.
