| New Owner and new to YT Hi, I wanted to introduce myself and my new Yorkie, Cassie, to the forum. I'm a new Yorkie owner, although I'm not unfamiliar with small dogs. My 14.5 y.o. Chihuahua crossed the bridge in April and I had raised him from a pup. I decided to forgo puppyhood and adopted Cassie through a Yorkie Rescue organization. She is about 1.5 y.o. and about 12 lbs. I understand that 12 lbs is large for a Yorkie, but I have two greyhounds, so Miss Cassie is tiny. For the time being, the dogs are separated while I'm away, but they've been getting along just fine while I'm around. The greyhounds are couch potatoes and are used to having guest dogs in the house. Cassie will be the guest that never leaves. Shortly I'll be asking for training advice because she has bad leash manners and we go for walks every morning. I'll also be asking for advice on younger dogs, since the Chihuahua was geriatric when he died and my oldest greyhound is 11. I've forgotten what it's like to have a young small dog! |

| Welcome to YT! I think you will like it here. I'm a newbie also and everyone has been so kind and helpful. Cassie, will have you remembering what it is like to have a puppy in no time at all. Just give her a little time to settle down. |

| Welcome to yorkietalk! What a cutie Miss Cassie is. How wonderful for you to rescue her! I started with my 2 yorkies at age 1 1/2 too -- this way you miss a lot of the teething, shewing, etc.
