| His face smells My 6 month yorkie has been smelly for about the last week. Did a search for possible reasons ... earmites.. nope checked his ears, even pulled his ear hair myself. It's not his breath and it's not an unbearable smell just a really strong doggy smell in and around his face/head. Does anyone know what this might be? Should I take him to the vet? Help? |

| Are you sure that he didn't get into garbage or maybe if he goes outside, cats spray and so do skunks and sometimes these little guys go looking for it in the bushes and weeds. So maybe that's a smell your smelling...

Donating YT 14K Club Member | Gracie went through this stage. Seemed as though when their hair is growing out, sometimes, hair would poke her eyes and cause them to tear. This led to eye-boogies which was causing her smell. I washed her face everyday. Since she's older, her face doesn't smell.

| Pita rubs her face in any dead thing outside, or anything really smelly. Also I think the eye boogie sometimes stinks. I just take a washcloth with baby shampoo on it and wash her face if it isn't bathtime. |

| it's not garbage or anything dead... he just had a bath 2 days ago and the smell is still there... I'll try washing his face and see if it goes away. If it's still her on Friday I may take him to the vet. |

| Bella is going through it. You might need to brush his teeth. Thats what we've been doing and its getting better. She's got two rows of teeth in some places and there is food and junk stuck between. Try brushing.

| My little Gracie had this problem a while back around her nose and mouth. Turns out she had a sinus infection and had to take antibiotics. The smell went away in a couple of days. She had no obvious symptoms of a sinus infection but that is what it was! Check it out. |

| Try washing his face after every meal. It could be that he's getting food stuck in his hair around his mouth and getting wet and stinky. Linus's face was stinky until I did that.

| Sometimes when the eyes water bacteria builds up because the hair stays wet.. Try washing around that area a couple of times a day with just water.. Or use some eye cleaner instead of water.

| Lil Bit had the stinkiest face.....I HATED IT!!!!! She always seems to have runny/watery eyes and her face is always damp......but when it got REALLY smelly I took her to the vet and she had an eye infection. It is all cleared up now but I do like to wash her face everyday just because it gets to looking kinda gross! By the way..good question.....is it ok to use the "puppy wash towelettes" on their faces???? I have several of them for wipe off situations...but always use a wash rag on her face......(oh my, "wash rag" sounds soooo country!!) |

| It hasn't gone away so I'm taking him to vet at 4 today. I'd rather go and have it be nothing... than not go and have him be really sick. I'll post and let everyone know how he is when we get home. Thanks for all the help. |
