| Ewe, Ick, Gross.... I just took Frankie out for his last potty time of the night and he took off running towards the tree we have in the back yard. I didn't think it was unusual because he goes back there sometimes.. But then I saw he was chewing on something whitish, so I called him and he ran up on the deck chewing on a mouse or something, I didn't know what to do I was yelling at him to drop it but he wouldn't and I just couldn't bring myself to reach in and pull it out. Ewe, I'm so completely grossed out, he ate it.. I know that's what yorkie where originally breed to do, but has any one else had this happen? Will it hurt him??

| No rodents yet but Jo used to have a thing for earthworms. He would actually sniff them out and pull them like a bird. The vet said it's gross but it wouldn't hurt him and he seems to be growing out of the habit now...either that or he's eaten all the worms in our yard! |

| ewww..ick! Sorry about this....remember that rodents carry parasites and such. My vet told me that mice and other small rodents are primary carriers of Tapeworms....something to watch out for! |

| Also, you might want to be careful not to poison mice if the baby wants to eat them!

| Oh my gosh you would have so seen me do the "freak out dance" if I were you! Groooss! But, hey, dogs will be dogs, and the yorkshire terrier was originally bred to catch rodents, right?

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | All I can say is that I would try to snatch that away so fast....I'm SO GLAD we only have toads in Houston - mine won't eat them but they sure like to hunt them....They ARE NOT poisenous - I checked with my vet - but they give off a nasty taste and makes my girls drool IF they touch one - so they learned to play instead....but Mice are a different story - Maybe you need a cat to get the mice ? |

| YUCK!! Dogs will be dogs no matter how pampered and petted they are. I have a cute little girl who as soon as she sees me coming will swallow whole anything she has in her mouth. I have been lucky enough so far that it has been only toilet paper and goose poop. They can be soo gross! |

I was worried about toads, because it rained here last night so as soon as we went outside I thought about your previous post about it. I have never saw a mouse before in our yard before (and I never want to again), we've never had a problem. We do have 3 cats but they stay inside and that would gross me out just the same. Ewww
