| cold weather Ah here I am for advice again. We are headed from warm south Texas to cold mid and northern Ohio in 4 days. I have sweaters, shirts and coats for my Ahia and Buckeye. (No boots). First off ...any ideas on how to keep their feet warm when they have to go out to potty without having to buy those expensive boots that I don't have time to order anyway? second... Should I worry about them catching a cold or pnemonia? Third... Remember I am very protactive because they are not dogs they are my babies. Ahia gave me a giant scare last night. She slipped out the door and headed down the street faster than a grayhound. luckily she went to the neighbors house 3 doors down the street who we stop to visit often while on our walks. Ahia went right to her and she brought her to me. Scared me to death. car comming down the street and most people around here don't slow down for children much less a small pet. I have never seen a yorkie go that fast. she was faster than a grayhound!

| for the snow booties you could make them if you are handy with a sewing machine. Or i have seen very small newborn socks at walmart with rough padded stuff on the bottom, that might keep their feet warm and dry |

| Otis has a pair of shoes (or should I say two pair?) and they're red and fuzzy with velcro straps. They were very inexpensive from Pet Food Express. They fly off his feet, though, within 5 steps. I wish I knew a better way to keep them on. It's been really cold here, even though we're in CA. We've had to cut our walks short because I think I have a harder time adjusting to the cold than Otis does! P.S. Next time Ahia runs off like that, just yell, "WANT A TREAT? WANT SOME CHICKEN? WANT A TREAT?" and she should come running back to you. |

| thanks guys. i have tried putting those newborn baby hand protectors on Buckeye's feet before. but he slipped right out of them. and they wouldn't protect much any way. maybe on the way up there i can crochet something for them. junebug, I did yell 'want a treat' all the way down the street. it made everyones ears purk up but hers. I know you are not supposed to put them in a crate to punish them but I was so mad at her I made her go in it for a while.(less than a minute).. what a punishment huh?

| Maybe when you get to Ohio thing will be cheaper, since they are needed up there. I know down south in Texas we don't need snow booties. lol. Have a great trip. I have a runner too Rudy, nothing will stop him I call him and he looks at you and keeps going. I have had to stop traffic, he doesn't know what the cars can to do him. I get so mad at him I could beat him, but when I finally catch him I am so excited he didn't get hurt I hug him to death. Thank God Maddie mines, she just stays in the yard, like saying Rudy you are in BIG TROUBLE. I don't know why he does it. I have put and expanding gate at the door now so when it opens he can't get out. I was lucky the couple of time he got out he didn't get hurt.........Cindy Last edited by Maddie-Rudy-Mom; 11-30-2004 at 12:06 AM. |

| ldenise ... we had "record" snowfall this past week-end in Grand Junction, CO! The Toto was AMAZED at all the snow and was hopping around in it like a little bunny!! We didn't even get a chance to put a sweater on her before she jumped in it! We found that she quickly learned why I put one of her beds in front of the fireplace!! I have to find a solution to the "shoe" problem too ... don't know if I can find them that small! Let us know your solution? Junebug ... got some pics from my brother who lives in Victorville ... never dreamed there could be that much snow in CA!!!
