Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | They called Yorkies SEWER RATS! Academics have long debated whether the Yorkie is a small dog or a large sewer rat. After all, when the Yorkshire Terrier is not properly groomed, it looks like a mangy little furball. However, when properly attended to, the Yorkie is a pretty little dog that old women like to carry in their purses. This little dog is quite independent, but a great companion. They are especially good apartment dogs, since they don't need much exercise. However, they can be easily injured by young children - especially emotionally, because children are apt to say such cruel things. So for this reason, it is not recommended as a family dog, but more for a retired person, or people with a lot of time on their hands and a love of combing something that resembles Chewbacca's left forearm. http://www.soyouwanna.com/site/toptens/dogs/dogs.html

| Well my "Sewer Rat" won't fit into any purse and his coat is no where near the matted hair on Chewbacca's arm. I'd say his coat resembles the hair on Pocahones's head My sewer rat also loves children and I am not retired, yet! So much for the old coots theary! |

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | I mean could they represent this breed any worse??? Apartment dogs??? Old woman carring them in purses??? I tell you what.....I bred/owned Rotties for many years and whelped 3 litters. 23 pups in all....And my Bella has more guts and personality than almost every rottie I ever raised! I did have one that was reaching genius status with me....That was Mr. Dozer Wozer Shmozer....lol my king and baby! He lived 10 years....what a great dog....but anyway...Not good family dogs??? Are they flipping crazy??? DOnt owners of big dogs teach their children to respect the "big dog" dont touch his food, dont mess with him while he sleeps...blah blah blah...Okay so with yorkies we teach be careful where you step....dont be too rough....Having owned both big and small dogs....and loving them both immensely I think a yorkie makes just as good family pet as a rottie/lab (big dog) They boths have pluses and minuses...... Emotionally damaged??? what the hell is that?? Emotionally damaged by what children say???? I dont get it.

| My moms fiancee said the same thing! We went to this inn in down the Cape and they had two yorkies. And he knew how much I wanted one. They also had two poms whowere adorable. But anyways he goes 'Why would you want that dog it looks like a RAT! At least the other dog is cute.(talking about the black pom)' I refused to talk to him for 2 weeks.I can't believe anyone would compare a yorkie to a rat! |

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | RAt???? I have heard it all, Rat, hamster, guniea pig, and the best was a mouse on steroids.... I was like Did you think of that all by yourself or did your 5 year old granddaughter help you????? Actually I felt bad because I seriously think a 5 year old could think of something better to say that that!!! Rude people. Why does everyone have to try to be funny instead of thinking about how that insult may hurt us yorkie owner feelings.? If you have nothing nice to say ....then dont say anything at all!

| What do they know! In a way it's a good thing - those ignorant people obviously have no desire to own a Yorkie, leaving them for the rest of us who respect and love them. And that's good for the Yorkie, of course.
