Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Not hitting her is a good philosophy to have - human aggression just breeds more canine aggression - vicious circle. Have you tried a BIG variety of toys? The ones you have may not be satisfying her needs for chewing. I have quite a variety and it helps, plus, they'll chew on different things at different times - for whatever reason. Do you have bully stix for her? You could also try the metal bowl/spoon method to teach her "NO!" - when she does a bad behaviour, you bang the spoon on the metal bowl and this is pretty startling to them and usually interupts the behaviour. Can I ask you a little favor? It is very, very difficult to read posts when people capitalize the 1st letter of every single word - it looks like one long sentence and is tough to read. Many times, if people open a thread and see posts written like this, they'll just close it w/out reading it. So, you might even get more responses in the future if you write it without the capitalization. No offense intended, my friend! Just a suggestion.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | do NOT hit her ! She's a baby - that's what puppies do. Try saying NO BARK and looking her right in the eyes - some people have luck with growling in their faces lol - but don't hit her !....everyone knows puppies bite...and she may also be teething - give her something to chew on - take her for a walk - play with her - there's alot you can do to distract her. |

| I went thru this when Lucy was little. What finally worked for me was to gently hold her nose and mouth in one hand and say NO firmly. I did it every time she tried to bite (she was always playing when she did it). It didn't take long and now, even now when we're playing if she starts gnawing on my hand I can just say no and she immediately stops. I think the key is to stop it early.

| Oh, I feel your pain Kalani learned very easily that I do not want him biting or playing rough just by me saying 'ouch' and putting something else in his mouth. Hoku, on the other hand, was very stubborn and I had to be firm in my tone and show her who was boss by holding her down for a couple seconds when she challenged me and then turning my back on her and ignoring her for a few minutes. Believe me, she fought me twice till she realized I was serious and not playing. After that all I had to say was either 'no biting' or 'I'm the boss' and she would immediately back down. Good luck, just be persistent and don't discipline her when you're angry or frustrated because they pick up on that right away. What you're trying to teach is what is appropriate behavior and who the 'alpha' in your home is

| I had to wear slippers for about 4 months. They eventually learn. If you're playing and he starts nipping, just put him on the floor and say No Bite. This is especially good if you find yourself getting annoyed or angry since you're separating him from your anger. (Anger will just confuse him). Ian Dunbar writes about bite inhibition. It takes time, but he suggests doing it early. His books are good.

| If timeout in her crate isn't working then bust out the squirt bottle. I had to do that with one of my babies a few years back (different breed), I added a little lemon juice to it. It worked like a charm! Plus give her lots of attention and love when she is being a good girl, positive reinforcement always seems to work the best! Good Luck!!
