| Cicadas! - Adie's favorite snack food I said I'd post a couple of photos of the 17 year locust (Cicadas) that have cropped up this year. The first one is in my hand and the second is the base of one of our trees. If you didn't read my other post then I must tell you that Adie can't eat enough of these ugly little things! We hardly have to feed her right now but we do give her veggies to keep her healthy. And this is my PICKY EATER! It is perfectly safe for her to ingest them though. Yuck! |

| If you've never lived thru an invasion, you're in for a surprise! Wait until you come out early in the morning and you hear their ear piercing shrills like a million high pitched jack hammers, it's frightening. Worse is when they fly right at you. I remember we were invaded a few years ago...they emerge every 17 years....and my kids and I would literally cover our heads and run for our lives to the car. They were all over the place. They hung around for 2 months or so if I recall and it was a happy day when they all croaked and all was quiet in the early morning again! PS: I didn't have Ralphie then so I don't know how he would have reacted towards them.

| She sure does LOL. All of the critters are eating them. They are really tasty! And Boni is right! They are so loud. It is a mating call. A lot of them think the lawn mower is a potental lover! Adie has my shepherd and Shih tzu hunting them now. It won't be long before one of them bites in to one finds its tasty almond flavor. |
