| Do you feel guilty.... Do you feel guilty whenever you leave your yorkie alone? Everytime I go to school, I feel SO BAD leaving Princess home.. I hardly EVER go out anymore other than school/word-related stuff cuz I feel guilty leaving Princess by herself.. whenever my family goes out over the weekends, I never go cuz no one would be home to watch her, so I'm home playing with her over the weekends, which I don't mind, but i do get a lil annoyed always having to feel guilty everyday whenever I leave her.. Once in a while I get someone to watch her over the weekends whenever I have a big test, which still worries me, but puts a big relief off my shoulders, but it also makes me really sad and miss her.. I dunno... how do you guys deal with this? |

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | I'm sure I'll get some flaming for this, but no I really don't feel guilty when I go out and leave them alone. The 3 of them manage to keep each other company.

Donating YT 11K Club Member | O yea I always feel guilty especially when Teddy is screaming and barking like a girl at the top of his lungs as if he were getting hit. LOL it drives me crazy though...I have a gate between my room and the rest of the apt. so that he won't run out and pee everywhere and everytime I even step over the gate to get something in the living room he will cling to my leg, bite my clothes, do anything to stop me. It's crazy. But as I leave him more and more he gets used to it. I just leave him with food or something to entertain him. But the only time I leave him is when I have school or work. |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | i don't feel guilty either. i can't spend every minute with morgan, that's just insane, as much as i love her. I go to work 8-9 hours a day and she is just fine at home in her expen. she has toys, a house, food, water, and a pee pad (which for some reason actually discourages her from going potty in the house and she holds it). I don't make a big deal about coming and going so she doesn't make a big deal about it either. Also i go out at night sometimes and i go out on the weekends (not for 8-9 hours like during the week but for a couple hours to go shopping or see the bf). morgan does come to the BFs house with me on the weekends and she is crated when we go out together. I do take morgan places with me if i want to and the place were going allows dogs (or at least doesn't make a big deal about it). i think the key is not making a big deal about it so that our pups don't make a big deal about it. I think the screaming and pouting they do makes it harder for us to leave them because we feel so bad about them being upset. The only way to make it better is to actually go out more so they get used to it. spending all your time with them just gives them separation anxiety when it is time for you to leave them.

| I have to leave every day for work. Pepper is alone for around 7-8 hours, he mostly sleeps, and then can play till almost midnight. I take him with me once a week, usually on Wed, to break his week a little and drop him at a daycare close to my work (would love to do it more often but they're pricey ). He sleeps for a day afterwards so that's good. I used to be gulity leaving him, but we both got used to it, there's no other way... Now, he does starts whining when he sees me getting ready but when I'm leaving, I always give him a crunchy treat and he jumps on his bed and waits for it - with his mouth full, he can't whine lol. I try to spend as much time as I can tending to Pep in the mornings, evenings and weekends, forget the day-trips to the mall now . I think staying calm and not making big deal when he leave is the key, trying to distract them somehow helps as well.

| [quote=Marcellacml;1034699]Get another yorkie hehehe I don't know why everyone seems to think that works, for it just does not for me. I now have two that go crazy when I have to leave them and now I have to feel twice as guilty. This morning I have to go to the Dentist and I am already dreading having to leave. Love my kids to death! |

| I don't feel guilty either. I really hardly ever leave Skippy for more then an hour, and when I get back he greets me like I've been away for a month. |
